10 Richest Female Investors on the Vietnamese Stock Market

The combined assets of the 10 wealthiest women on the Vietnamese stock exchange amount to 20,300 billion VND. This year, a new face has emerged on the list: Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Diep, wife of the Chairman of FLC Group.

The top 10 wealthiest women on the Vietnamese stock market are mostly wives or relatives of the wealthiest individuals on the Vietnamese stock exchange. They also hold leadership roles in their respective businesses.

The list is compiled based on the most recent securities ownership data published on the Stock Exchanges.

The sisters who are wives of billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong

Possessing assets worth trillions of dong, the top spot is held by two female entrepreneurs who are relatives of billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong.

Specifically, the top spot goes to Ms. Pham Thu Huong, Mr. Vuong's wife, who holds 124.7 million VIC shares of Vingroup Corporation, worth 5,465 billion VND.

Ms. Huong's sister, Ms. Pham Thuy Hang, has 3.651 billion VND from holding 83.3 million VIC shares.

Currently, both sisters, Ms. Huong and her sibling, hold the position of Vice President of Vingroup Corporation.

Businesswoman Truong Thi Le Khanh is nicknamed the "Queen of Pangasius" as she holds the position of Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Vinh Hoan Seafood Joint Stock Company, a company specializing in pangasius export.

The female leader of Vinh Hoan currently holds 45.5 million VHC shares worth 2.529 billion VND. She has rapidly risen to the position of the third richest woman on the stock exchange, mainly thanks to the 90% increase in VHC share price since the beginning of 2016.

Mrs. Vu Thi Hien - wife of the Hoa Phat boss

Ms. Vu Thi Hien, wife of Mr. Tran Dinh Long, Chairman of Hoa Phat Group, currently owns nearly 54 million HPG shares, equivalent to 2,200 billion VND.

Ms. Hien's assets have increased rapidly since the beginning of the year as HPG shares have surged thanks to the company's impressive business results.

Ms. Nguyen Hoang Yen is a member of the Board of Directors of Masan Group (MSN) and the wife of Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang, the Chairman of the Board. Ms. Yen currently holds key leadership positions in a number of Masan Group subsidiaries such as Vinacafe Bien Hoa, Vinh Hao Mineral Water, Masan Consumer, etc.

Since the beginning of 2016, news related to the inspection of the Nui Phao mine and negative rumors about fish sauce have negatively impacted Masan Group's MSN stock. Consequently, Ms. Yen's assets have also decreased significantly. Currently, she holds nearly 28.3 million MSN shares, equivalent to over 1.88 trillion VND.

Ms. Phan Thu Huong - a shareholder of Vingroup

Another woman who owns a large amount of VIC shares but is quite discreet is Phan Thu Huong, 46, General Director of Vietnam Investment Corporation. This company is the largest institutional shareholder of Vingroup and holds nearly 13% of the capital of billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong's group.

Despite owning approximately 29.5 million VIC shares worth VND 1,296 billion, Ms. Huong is not yet a major shareholder of the group as her ownership stake is only slightly over 1%.

Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Diep - a major shareholder of ROS

This year marks the first time Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Diep has joined the list of women with assets worth hundreds of billions of VND. Ms. Diep is a major shareholder of Faros Construction Joint Stock Company (ROS) and the wife of Mr. Trinh Van Quyet, Chairman of FLC Group.

From its initial listing price of 10,500 VND, ROS shares have increased more than fivefold to 59,300 VND at the close of trading on October 19th.

Currently, Ms. Diep owns 20.2 million ROS shares, worth nearly 1.2 trillion VND, and ranks 7th on the list of the richest women on the stock exchange.

Mrs. Dang Ngoc Lan - wife of bầu Kiên

Another woman with assets worth hundreds of billions of dong is Ms. Dang Ngoc Lan - a member of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Commercial Trust Bank (Vietbank). However, she is better known as the wife of Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien (Bau Kien).

Ms. Lan currently owns 38.5 million ACB shares of Asia Commercial Bank, worth 755 billion VND.

Ms. Cao Thi Ngoc Dung - the owner of PNJ.

PNJ shares surged by 73%, dramatically increasing the net worth of the jewelry brand's owner to 743 billion VND.

Shares surged thanks to strong business results from Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company after overcoming difficulties related to its investment in Dong A Bank.

Vinamilk's female CEO, Mai Kieu Lien

Although the female CEO of Vinamilk only holds 4 million VNM shares, due to the consistently high market value of the stock, Ms. Lien's converted assets amount to 591 billion VND, ranking 10th on the list of wealthy women in the Vietnamese stock market.
