IMDb has released a list of the 10 most-watched series of the past year, featuring hit titles like "Game of Thrones," "The Walking Dead," and "Arrow."

1. Game of Thrones

No series could rival the fifth season of Game of Thrones last year, with so many events keeping viewers constantly on the edge of their seats. Queen Cersei's (Lena Headey) humiliating journey to the brink of death, the White Walkers' attack, and especially the death of Jon Snow (Kit Harington)... all contributed to Game of Thrones' enduring appeal. Even US President Obama contacted the producers to ask, "Is Jon Snow really dead?"

Besides its huge impact on social media, Game of Thrones also became the most-award-winning series at the Emmy Awards (considered the Oscars of American television). Game of Thrones won a total of 12 out of 24 nominated categories, including "Outstanding Drama Series".

2. The Walking Dead

Since 2010, The Walking Dead has consistently been among the most popular television series, with millions of fans worldwide. The series tells the story of a world on the brink of apocalypse as zombies take over. A group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), tries to survive in this dangerous world.

The unexpected deaths and unpredictable reappearances of the main characters have led fans to frequently visit the show's IMDb forums to comment. In October, the fate of the beloved character Glenn (Steven Yeun) was the number one trending topic among The Walking Dead fans.

3. Arrow

Airing since 2012, Arrow tells the story of Oliver Queen, a young billionaire from Starling City. This wealthy young man was presumed dead after a stormy sea voyage, before unexpectedly reappearing five years later. He has changed considerably during his time stranded on the island and has become the hero Arrow, capable of wiping out the villains harming his beloved city.

The appearance of several Suicide Squad members in the third season, along with a surprising event involving the famous character Ra's al Ghul, brought Arrow to the forefront. The fourth season premiered later this year, with Oliver Queen beginning his mayoral race.

4. Daredevil

Entrusted with the Daredevil character by Marvel, Netflix did not disappoint viewers. The first season of Daredevil received an 8.9/10 rating and is considered one of the best superhero television series in history. The story revolves around blind lawyer Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) who uses his special skills and hearing to fight crime under the name Daredevil.

Daredevil closely follows Marvel's original source material, making fans forget the disappointment of the film adaptation from over a decade ago starring Ben Affleck. Not only did it succeed in satisfying comic book fans, but Daredevil also captivated those unfamiliar with this "blind knight."

5. Narcos

Netflix is proving to be a new force in the television series production industry, delivering quality works such as House of Cards, Master of None, and most recently, Narcos. This television series is based on the true story of the legendary drug lord Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura). In the 1980s and early 1990s, Escobar was the ultimate power in the global drug trade, driving police in both Colombia and the United States crazy trying to bring him to justice.

The first season of Narcos boasts compelling storytelling, outstanding acting, and a thrilling pace. Incredible details about Escobar's life are brought to the small screen, leaving viewers stunned to learn that such a powerful crime boss once existed and highlighting the relentless efforts of authorities to dismantle his vast network. The series currently has a 9/10 rating on IMDb.

6. American Horror Story: Hotel

Every year, American Horror Story releases a new season with a completely different setting and storyline from previous seasons. The fifth season, titled Hotel, centers around the mysterious Cortez Hotel in Los Angeles, where mysterious crimes occur, attracting the attention of detective John Lowe (Wes Bentley). Interestingly, the story in Hotel is connected to the events of the first season, Murder House.

Mystery, surprise, and tension... these are the things that audiences always look forward to each new season of American Horror Story. The fifth season also features music superstar Lady Gaga in the role of Elizabeth. In the recently announced Golden Globe nominations, American Horror Story: Hotel is nominated in the "Best Television Series/Mini-Series" category, while Lady Gaga also received a nomination in the "Best Actress in a Television Series/Mini-Series" category.

7. Orange is the New Black

The comedy series Orange is the New Black centers around Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), a woman imprisoned for illegally transferring money to her then-lesbian lover over a decade prior. Unfortunately, her former lover turns out to be a drug dealer, forcing Chapman to learn how to cope with life in prison...

The third season of Orange is the New Black was not as well-received as the second season and dropped three places from its 2014 ranking on IMDb. However, its humorous female cast, clever script, and distinctive characters still make it one of the most beloved comedy series on television.

8. Fear the Walking Dead

Fear the Walking Dead is a spin-off series based on the globally popular original series, The Walking Dead. The story is set in Los Angeles at the time the zombie pandemic began and shows how devastated human society has become. According to fans of The Walking Dead, the early episodes of this series were relatively slow-paced and not particularly engaging.

However, after the first six episodes, the story started to become more engaging. The outbreak of the disease in the final episode of season one delighted fans and began counting down to the airing of season two of Fear the Walking Dead.

9. True Detective

After a critically acclaimed first season, True Detective launched its second season with a new storyline and cast, generating much anticipation. Renowned actors such as Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, and Taylor Kitsch played characters involved in a criminal syndicate in Vinci. However, these names weren't enough to fill the void left by the first season's detective duo, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

The unengaging, drawn-out, and uninspired plot of True Detective 2 only reached a moderately good level. Nevertheless, it remained one of the most watched series of 2015, despite dropping three places from its previous season's ranking.

10. The Flash

The Flash is based on the DC Comics comic book series about Barry Allen (Grant Justin), who possesses the ability to move at superhuman speeds and becomes the superhero Flash. Allen's job is to investigate crime scenes, and he frequently uses his special abilities to fight criminals or even other mutants with superpowers.

Since its premiere in October 2014, The Flash has quickly become a flagship series for The CW. Fans are also delighted by the appearance of characters from another popular superhero series, Arrow, in The Flash. The first season of The Flash won the "Best New Drama Series" award at the People's Choice Awards and is currently in its second season.
