10 Bitter Truths About Life Everyone Must Accept
If you want to be successful, find your purpose in life. You don't have to be responsible for other people's expectations. No matter who you are, you need to understand these 10 bitter truths about life to be able to firmly overcome all the storms.
If you are like me, you may not believe in success stories like dreams. Real life is much harder than success stories. Each of us has a lot to learn and there are harsh truths that we have to accept. These are bitter realities that few people can recognize. Only when you understand them, can you firmly walk on the path of life and grasp success in your hands.
1. Without goals, life is meaningless
Working towards a goal gives you direction. Goals help us filter out what is important and what can be ignored. When I look back on my life, my happiest moments have been when I was working towards goals that were bigger than myself.
2. What people think of you doesn't matter.
"You don't have to live the way everyone else wants you to. You don't have to meet everyone's expectations," according to Richard P. Feynman.
We don’t need to worry about what other people think. It’s a mistake to let your emotions depend on others. When others start saying negative things about you, it makes you feel like your self-worth is decreasing. Your self-worth, your happiness depends only on you.
3. We can't control everything
You have to learn to let go, reduce stress because you can't control everything. Even your body, heart, blood, internal organs... all work independently and you can't control them. We have to accept things that belong to objective life that we can't control. Instead of trying to change things beyond your control, focus your energy on things within your control.
4. Your loved ones will eventually leave you.
When we are young, we hardly know how to appreciate what we have. Many people mistakenly think that their parents will live forever and they forget how to show love to their parents.
"Love and care for your parents. Don't wait until they are no longer in this world to realize how important they are," according to the Dalai Lama.
5. What you own does not define who you are.
Luxury cars, expensive handbags, and flashy clothes may help you appear impressive. But they do not add value to you as a person. Don't focus too much on material things, pay more attention to valuable experiences and relationships that truly add meaning to your life.
6. Thinking is completely different from action
When we are young, we have many dreams. But most of them do not come true. Success does not come to you. You have to take action and make efforts to complete the plans you have set. Don't wait for the perfect time to start anything, take action when you can.
7. Change is the only truth in life.
Change is the only constant in the universe. No matter how hard you try, you cannot change the laws of nature. We all grow old. Better take the chances you have and go with the flow.
8. Failure is the path to success
No one has a perfect life with brilliant achievements. Most of us avoid failure because of the bad feeling it brings. But if you want to achieve success, you cannot avoid failures and obstacles. In fact, failures teach us more life lessons than that. Do not be afraid of failure, because it is the ladder that brings you closer to the top of success.
9. Worrying is useless
Worrying only makes things worse. The more stressed you are, the less likely you are to find a solution to the problem. Worrying 20 times won't change anything.
10. The root of suffering is the pursuit of temporary feelings.
According to Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, "many people think that joy is happiness. But when you are joyful and excited, you are not peaceful. True happiness comes from peace."
Excitement, joy... are just temporary emotions and do not last long. True happiness is peace from within, is what belongs to you, is who you are.
