100 households in Cau Giat Town hope to have electricity and water soon.

(Baonghean.vn)- For decades, nearly 100 households in residential area block 12, Cau Giat town, Quynh Luu district (Nghe An) have had to live without clean water and electricity.

Showing us her family's water pipe system, Ms. Luong Thi Thu, residing in Block 12, Cau Giat town, said: Although there is a water pipe system and water meter, it has not been used for nearly ten years since its installation. On the rare days when there is water, it is only a trickle like coffee...

According to Mrs. Thu, each month, her family is lucky to only be able to drain about 1-2 cubic meters of water. That is why for a long time, the water bill collectors of Cau Giat town water supply company have not bothered to come here because even if they did, there would be nothing to collect. Meanwhile, if the water bill collectors did come here, they would have to spend time reassuring the people that the water supply is too weak to be pushed back up here...

Sharing with reporters, she also said: the water pipeline system and water meter have been invested by her family for many years, since the policy of providing clean water to people in Cau Giat town area. The average investment cost at that time was about 800 thousand - 1 million VND per household. However, up to now, nearly ten years have passed, the water pipeline has not been used so it has been damaged, the water meter is rusted and degraded. Most households here have to use water from wells which is very unsafe, some households with conditions have to buy water at high prices, each cubic meter costs from 5,500 VND.

In addition to the clean water issue, people here also have to buy electricity at a high price from a local electricity business unit, Cau Giat Gas Enterprise, at a price of 2,200 VND/Kw. In addition to the high electricity price, because the power lines are old, the amount of electricity consumed is very large, each household has to bear an additional 2-5 kW of wasted electricity each month.

Representing the people, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong, head of block 12, said: In almost every meeting and contact, we make recommendations and feedback. Accordingly, we propose a plan to install new power lines as well as measures to fix the clean water supply, but there has been no response yet.

We hope that relevant agencies will soon have a plan to overcome the above situation./.
