100 households in Cau Giat town hope to have electricity and water soon.

(Baonghean.vn) - For decades, nearly 100 households in residential area 12, Cau Giat town, Quynh Luu district (Nghe An province) have had to live without clean water and electricity.

Showing us her family's water pipeline system, Ms. Luong Thi Thu, residing in Block 12, Cau Giat town, said: "Although we have a pipeline system and a water meter, it hasn't been used for almost ten years since its installation. On the rare occasions when there is water, it's only a trickle, like a coffee drip..."

According to Ms. Thu, her family is lucky to collect even 1-2 cubic meters of water each month. Therefore, the water bill collectors from the Cau Giat town water supply company haven't bothered coming here for a long time because there's nothing to collect. Meanwhile, if the collectors do come, they have to spend time reassuring the residents that the water supply is too weak to pump water up here...

Sharing with reporters, she also said: the water pipeline system and water meter were invested in by her family many years ago, since the policy of providing clean water to the people in Cau Giat town was implemented. The investment cost at that time was an average of 800,000 - 1,000,000 VND per household. However, nearly a decade has passed, and the water pipes have not been used, so they are damaged, and the water meters are rusted and deteriorated. Most households here have to use water from open wells, which is very unreliable, and some households with better financial conditions have to buy water at a high price, 5,500 VND per cubic meter.

Besides the issue of clean water, residents here also have to buy electricity at high prices from a local power company, Cau Giat Gas Station Enterprise, at 2,200 VND/kW. In addition to the high electricity price, due to the old power lines, there is a lot of electricity loss, with each household incurring an extra 2-5 kW of wasted electricity each month.

Speaking on behalf of the residents, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong, head of Block 12, said: "We have made requests and raised concerns at almost every meeting and interaction. Specifically, we proposed solutions such as installing new power lines and addressing the clean water supply issue, but we have yet to receive any response."

We hope that the relevant authorities will soon come up with a plan to remedy the above situation.
