The Vallet Scholarship originated in Vietnam in 1994, initially providing scholarships from the "Meeting Vietnam" fund to postgraduate students.
Since 1997, the scholarship has been awarded to outstanding students in the talented undergraduate programs at Hanoi National University. From 2001 to the present, in its 23rd year, the scholarship has been awarded under the name "Vallet Scholarship," sponsored by Professor Odon Vallet, within the framework of the "Meeting Vietnam" program.

During the scholarship awarding ceremony, Professor Odon Vallet also gave a speech sharing the significance of the Vallet Scholarship. Since its implementation, the number of scholarships awarded in Vietnam has steadily increased: from 800 in 2001 to 2,000 in 2023; the value of the scholarships has also increased year by year: from 2.7 million VND per scholarship for high school students and 4.2 million VND per scholarship for university students, each scholarship for high school students is now 14 million VND and for university students is 28 million VND.

Professor Odon Vallet also expressed his affection for Vietnam – a country with many glorious and heroic victories. He is proud to have many close friends in Vietnam, such as General Vo Nguyen Giap.
With these precious sentiments, Professor Odon Vallet expressed his joy at being awarded the Vallet Scholarship, and over the years of its implementation, many scholarship recipients have won high awards at regional and international Olympiad competitions – the most of any country where the scholarship is implemented. The success of the students is also the success of the Vallet Scholarship Fund and of those who implement it.

Previously, with the aim of supporting outstanding students to have better conditions for studying and conducting scientific research, and with tireless efforts to build a modern scientific community in Vietnam, Professor Tran Thanh Van founded the Vallet Scholarship Fund. And Professor Odon Vallet was the one who helped make Professor Tran Thanh Van's dream a reality.
Over the past two decades, the scholarship has awarded scholarships to more than 50,000 outstanding Vietnamese students, totaling nearly 500 billion VND. Nearly 400 of them have won medals in international and regional science Olympiads and have been admitted to prestigious universities worldwide.

In 2023 alone, scholarships were awarded to 2,000 students and young researchers nationwide, totaling over 36 billion VND. Of these, 116 students were from Nghe An province, receiving over 1.9 billion VND in scholarships.
These are students with outstanding academic achievements, who have won numerous top prizes in regional and international Olympic competitions, been recognized as outstanding national and provincial students, achieved high scores in high school graduation exams, and are excellent students at universities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Director of the Department of Education and Training Vo Van Mai expressed his sincere gratitude to Professor Odon Vallet, Professor Tran Thanh Van, and the "Meeting Vietnam" scientific organization for their support to students in Nghe An over the years. This is not only a valuable material gift, helping and creating opportunities for students to continue their studies and scientific research, but also demonstrates their heartfelt affection, solidarity, and friendship. This also reflects the special trust and deep friendship that the professors and the "Meeting Vietnam" scientific and educational organization and the Vallet Scholarship Fund have for students in Nghe An – the homeland of beloved President Ho Chi Minh, a land with a tradition of studiousness, ready to dedicate their talents and intellect to the development of their homeland, country, and social progress.
