12 years in prison for pervert who sexually abused a 12-year-old girl.

(Baonghean.vn) - After two days of deliberation, on the morning of September 14th, the Provincial People's Court sentenced Uong Nhat Duoc to 10 years in prison for "rape of a child" and 2 years in prison for "sexual intercourse with a child". Combining both charges, the defendant must serve a total of 12 years in prison.

According to the records, on the afternoon of April 19, 2014, Uong Nhat Duoc (born in 1949), residing in Hung Loc commune, Vinh City, went to the house of Ms. Vo Thi T. (from the same neighborhood) to buy alcohol and committed a depraved act against Ms. T.'s daughter, Uong TL. At that time, Uong TL was only 12 years and 11 months old.

Subsequently, the defendant repeatedly engaged in sexual intercourse with Uong TL. According to the defendant's statements during the investigation and at the trial, the child did not react during these acts of intercourse. The incident was only discovered in December 2015 when Ms. T. took her child for a medical examination, where doctors informed her that TL was 26 weeks pregnant. The child claimed that the father of the unborn child was an elderly neighbor.

After the incident was discovered, Uong Nhat Duoc gave the victim's family 100 million VND to cover expenses during Uong TL's pregnancy and childbirth. In March 2016, Uong TL gave birth to a baby boy. DNA testing confirmed that the child was Uong Nhat Duoc's biological son. Uong Nhat Duoc was prosecuted for child rape and sexual intercourse with a minor.

At the trial, Uong Nhat Duoc admitted to all of his crimes and hoped to be forgiven by the victim's family.

After considering all aspects of the case, including aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the court sentenced the defendant to the aforementioned punishment. In addition, the defendant must pay Ms. Vo Thi T. – the mother of Uong TL – 13.3 million VND for childcare expenses and is responsible for providing child support of 300,000 VND per month until the child reaches 18 years of age.
