The total number of cases seeking medical attention due to fighting was 2,203, of which 990 required inpatient treatment, including 14 deaths.
According to experts, accidents caused by fireworks leave extremely serious and dangerous consequences, with many cases resulting in significant health damage.
The production, sale, and use of firecrackers in Vietnam have been strictly prohibited nationwide since 1995.
However, the illegal production, trading, and indiscriminate use of firecrackers, especially during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year), still persist in many localities. This situation poses an extremely dangerous risk to people's health and public security.
The production and use of firecrackers have caused thousands of accidents, house fires, deaths, or lifelong injuries, affecting public order and security, resulting in enormous economic losses and environmental pollution that cannot be quantified.
On New Year's Eve, the spontaneous setting off of firecrackers by people in cities and localities lasts continuously for 30 to 40 minutes, creating loud explosions that are unbearable for the elderly, children, and those with weak hearts or nerves. Furthermore, the firecrackers used are often smuggled and of questionable quality, easily leading to unfortunate accidents.
