15 members of the Prime Minister's economic advisory group - Who are they?

(Baonghean.vn) - The Prime Minister has just signed Decision 1120/QD-TTg to establish the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Group to advise the Prime Minister on economic development issues. The economic advisory group consists of 15 members.

1.Dr. Vu Viet Ngoan

Mr. Vu Viet Ngoan was born in 1958 in Hanoi, former Chairman of the National Financial Supervisory Commission. Mr. Ngoan has a master's degree in peace movements from Bocconi University (Italy) and a doctorate in finance from La Salle University (USA). He was the Vice Chairman of the Economic Committee of the 13th National Assembly. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has just appointed him as Head of the Economic Advisory Group.

2.Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Ngoc Anh

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Ngoc Anh (Indiana University, USA) graduated with a Master's degree in Economics from the University of New South Wales, Australia in 1999 and a PhD in Public Policy from Harvard University, USA in 2009. He has experience consulting for many projects and studies of the World Bank, the United Nations and the Government of Vietnam. Currently, Dr. Tran Ngoc Anh is researching and teaching at the School of Public Policy and Environment and is also the Director of the Vietnam Initiative Program at Indiana University, USA.

3.Dr. Vu Thanh Tu Anh

Dr. Vu Thanh Tu Anh (PhD in Economics from Boston College, USA) is currently the Director of the Fulbright Economics Teaching Program in Ho Chi Minh City and a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. His main research areas are development economics, industrial policy, and institutional economics. In addition to his activities at the Fulbright School, Dr. Tu Anh is also a member of the Economic Expert Group of the National Assembly's Economic Committee. He is also a member of the Scientific Council of Ho Chi Minh City National University.

4.Dr. Vu Bang

Dr. Vu Bang was born in 1957 in Thai Binh. He has a doctorate in economics and was once the Chairman of the State Securities Commission. He is considered to have accompanied the Vietnamese stock market from its early days 20 years ago until his retirement last May.

5.Dr. Nguyen Dinh Cung

Dr. Nguyen Dinh Cung, Director of the Central Institute for Economic Management, graduated from the University of Economics in Prague, Czechoslovakia (formerly) in 1982, majoring in Foreign Trade Economics. He holds a master's degree in development economics from the University of Manchester (UK), and a doctorate in development economics from CIEM (Vietnam).

6.Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat

Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat (born in 1959, in Nam Dinh), has a PhD in Economics. Mr. Dat is currently the Rector of the National Economics University for the 2013-2018 term. He researches and teaches in the fields of economics, development economics, financial and monetary policy, macroeconomic stability, finance in higher education, and economic issues of environmental change. Professor Dat also has a number of articles and research works published in international journals ISI and Scopus.

7.Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Khuong

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Khuong (born in 1978, in Soc Son, Hanoi), received his PhD in Financial Management from Grenoble University when he was only 27 years old. Mr. Khuong taught at Lyon School of Business Administration, Grenoble Institute of Corporate Governance, and was an official lecturer at the Paris Institute of Commerce. Currently, Mr. Khuong is Deputy Director in charge of research and international scientific cooperation, and Head of the Finance Department at the Paris Institute of Administration and Business Administration (IPAG Business School). He was the first Vietnamese person to be in the top 10 young economists in the world as voted by the RePEc project.

8.Assoc.Prof.Dr.Vu Minh Khuong

Associate Professor Vu Minh Khuong has been working at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy as an associate professor since 2006. His research focuses on economic growth, productivity, competitiveness and issues related to the impact of information technology, e-government and economic integration. He has published many articles in international journals such as Scandinavian Journal of Economics, German Economics Review, Energy Policy and Journal of Policy Modeling. He received his PhD in Public Policy and MBA from Harvard University and his BA in Mathematics from Hanoi National University.

9.Dr. Tran Du Lich

Dr. Tran Du Lich (born in 1952 in Binh Dinh), has a PhD in Economics and is a senior State manager. Mr. Lich was the former Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Economics, a member of the 13th National Assembly, and was the Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation.

11.Dr. Truong Van Phuoc

Dr. Truong Van Phuoc (born in 1959, in Quang Tri) - Acting Chairman of the National Financial Supervisory Commission. He has a bachelor's degree in law, control mathematics, and political theory. He also has a doctorate in finance, money circulation, and credit from the University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Phuoc was formerly the Director of the State Bank's Transaction Office and the leader of many large banks.

12.Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang

Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang (born in 1957 in Thanh Chuong, Nghe An) is currently the Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics. He has held the positions of Deputy Director, Director of the Institute of World Economics and Politics; Vice President, President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; and is a member of the Party Central Committee, 11th and 12th terms. He is currently Vice President of the Central Theoretical Council.

13.Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Dinh Thien

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Dinh Thien, Director of the Vietnam Economic Institute. He was born in 1958 in Nghe An; graduated with a bachelor's degree in political economics from Hanoi University in 1979. He has a doctorate in political economics from the Institute of Economics, Academy of Sciences of the Soviet Union. He is currently Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Vietnam Economic Institute.

14.Professor Tran Van Tho

Mr. Tran Van Tho (born in 1949 in Quang Nam) started studying in Japan in 1967. He received a PhD in Economics from Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo. He worked at the Japan Economic Research Center, then became an Associate Professor, then a Professor at Obirin University (Tokyo). From 2000 to present, he has been a Professor of Economics at Waseda University (Tokyo). In 1990, he was one of three foreigners invited to be a professional member of the Japanese Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council, a position he held for nearly 10 years, through many Prime Ministers.

15.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan (born 1959 in Bac Ninh). He received his PhD in Economics in 1993 and was awarded the title of Professor in 2010. He is currently President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.
