(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 13th, on National Highway 1A, in the section passing through Quan Hanh town, Nghi Loc District Police arrested a case of illegal wildlife trafficking involving 18 turtles.

At that time, the Nghi Loc District Police task force spotted a passenger bus with license plate 29B-105.58 traveling from Vinh to Hanoi exhibiting suspicious behavior, so they signaled the vehicle to stop for inspection.

Upon inspection, the task force discovered 18 turtles in the vehicle without accompanying documentation. The driver, Nguyen Thang (born in 1975), residing in Huong Van ward, Huong Tra town, Thua Thien Hue province, and the assistant driver, Tran Thien Anh, confessed to transporting the turtles for an acquaintance from Quang Tri province to Hanoi.

Currently, the Nghi Loc District Police Investigation Agency is verifying the seized items and handing them over to the Pù Mát National Park Wildlife Rescue Center for release in accordance with the law.
