18 months in prison for mastermind of a ring that stole thousands of dogs.
Armed with switchblade knives and swords to defend themselves if surrounded, Quy's gang managed to steal 10 chickens each day.
The September 19th verdict of the Duc Tho District People's Court (Ha Tinh province) determined that, from the end of 2017, Pham Dinh Quy (33 years old), Le Duc Thien (28 years old), and five others regularly rode motorbikes to steal dogs in communes within and outside Duc Tho district at midnight or early morning. If discovered by residents, the dog thieves would use weapons to resist.

On average, each night, this group catches more than 10 dogs, selling them to Mr. Doan Van Loc (64 years old) for prices ranging from 600,000 to one million dong per dog. For the nicest dogs, they resell them to people who want to keep them as pets, at prices from 5 to 7 million dong.
On the night of June 1st, Quy's drug ring was surrounded by 50 criminal police officers from the Ha Tinh and Duc Tho Police Departments. Authorities seized 23 dogs, 4 stun guns, 3 cans of pepper spray, two switchblade knives, two homemade swords, and 6 motorbikes...
Authorities have determined that the group stole more than a thousand dogs.
