According to the latest information of the incident, as of 9:00 a.m. on May 24, the driver of the rock truck with license plate number 37C - 151.38 in the accident is being treated at the hospital. Currently, the number of deaths is 2 and 7 people are injured. The bodies of the 2 train drivers have been removed from the cabin. Authorities are conducting autopsies and examining the scene.
The injured were transported to Tinh Gia General Hospital (Thanh Hoa), Thanh Hoa General Hospital, Vietnam Hospital (Hanoi) and Nghe An General Hospital for emergency treatment.
At this point, Vietnam Railways is still trying to fix the problem. More than 400 passengers on the train that crashed have been transferred to a nearby station to continue their journey. Other trains will have a plan to transfer later.
And in a related development, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police have summoned two barrier guards, Pham Van Vui (born in 1978) and Nguyen Van Hung (born in 1983), to take statements. According to initial assessment, the cause of the accident was due to the truck carrying rocks crossing the road without looking, so it was hit by the North-South train that had just arrived.
Deputy Minister of Transport, Minister of Health, and Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee are rushing to the scene of the SE19 train capsize to direct rescue work and overcome the consequences.

| At about 0:30 on May 24, train number SE19 was moving in the North-South direction, when passing Km 234+050 of the level crossing with barriers at Khoa Truong station, Truong Lam commune (Tinh Gia district, Thanh Hoa province), it collided with a Howo truck carrying rocks with Nghe An license plate. |

| The strong impact threw the truck and flipped it over on the side of the road. The engine and 6 train cars overturned into the field. |
