Arising from a small debt, two groups of young men armed with various weapons clashed, causing chaos in the streets.
On September 4th, the Police Department of District 4, Ho Chi Minh City, announced that they have issued a decision to initiate a criminal case, indict the suspects, and execute arrest warrants for 10 individuals for investigation and prosecution on charges of "Disrupting public order."
According to the investigation, in early July, Nguyen Minh Tri (18 years old) and two friends went to Huynh Manh Tu's house armed with weapons to demand 1 million VND that Tu owed to one of the group members. However, Tu refused to pay and even challenged them.
When Tri's group attacked with weapons, Tu ran away to escape.
In the early morning of August 1st, Tú spotted Trí riding a motorbike on Tôn Thất Thuyết Street, District 4, so he and his friends chased after him and assaulted Trí at a gas station on Nguyễn Khoái Street, District 4. Angered by the assault, that same evening Trí mobilized his accomplices, armed with various weapons and a firearm, and arranged to meet at a coffee shop to plan their revenge.
Tri's group of four rode motorcycles all the way to Tu's house but couldn't find him. Knowing that Tu often hung out with friends in the Cu Lao Nguyen Kieu area, Tri's group went there.
Upon discovering Tú's group of seven sitting and playing, Trí's group, armed with weapons, stormed in and attacked them. Trí's group damaged one motorbike with their weapons.
Tu's group fled, shouting and throwing stones in retaliation. They then ran to a nearby garbage dump, retrieved six machetes they had hidden, and returned to attack.
Seeing that Tú's group was large, Trí's group tried to escape. Unfamiliar with the area, Trí's group was surrounded, had to abandon their vehicles, and jumped into the canal to escape the pursuit.
Tu's group used weapons to damage two abandoned motorbikes at the scene. When they saw the police arrive, Tu's group fled.
However, 10 individuals from the two groups involved in the brawl were quickly arrested by the police.
As a result of the brawl, Luu Hai Nam (18 years old), a member of Tri's group, suffered a slash injury to his right hand, and three motorbikes belonging to both groups were severely damaged.
Upon receiving the report, the District 4 Police, in coordination with the Criminal Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City, launched an investigation and arrested 10 individuals involved in the brawl. They seized two homemade knives approximately 80 cm long, one square iron bar approximately 95 cm long, one metal gun, and three motorcycles that had been damaged by slashing.
The District 4 police are continuing their investigation and gathering evidence to consider filing additional charges of "Intentional infliction of injury" and "Intentional damage to property" against the individuals involved.
