Two Japanese corporations are seeking investment opportunities in Nghe An.

(Baonghean.vn) - Japanese corporations Shumitomo and Sumidenso are exploring investment opportunities in Nghe An province to build factories producing electronic components and garments.

JICA conducts survey to support tourism development in Nghe An.

On the afternoon of October 13th, provincial leaders held a meeting with a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Hanoi Office and the President of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hanoi to discuss potential future cooperation. Representatives from Shumitomo Group and Sumidenso Group also accompanied the delegation.

Receiving and working with the delegation were: Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with representatives from provincial departments and agencies. Also in attendance was Mr. Nguyen Sy Dung - former Deputy Head of the Office of the National Assembly of Vietnam.

In his welcoming remarks, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh thanked JICA for its affection and support for the province and expressed confidence that this would be a solid foundation for the two sides to continue developing a long-term cooperative relationship.

Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh also affirmed that for Nghe An, Japan has always been a strategic partner for comprehensive cooperation, especially in the economic field.

In recent years, many Japanese businesses have come to explore opportunities and decided to invest in Nghe An.

Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh also hoped that this visit would be an opportunity and a foundation for Japanese businesses to gain a deeper understanding of Nghe An's potential and advantages, thereby making sound investment decisions based on mutual benefit.

The Provincial Party Secretary also pledged that Nghe An province would create all favorable conditions for Japanese businesses to operate effectively in the province.

Professor Yoshiharu Tsuboi – Senior Advisor of the JICA Office – affirmed the province's advantages in terms of geographical location, transportation, and human resources, and expressed his hope that Nghe An will make breakthroughs in development in the future, especially in the industrial sector.

During the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong stated that Nghe An is calling on Japanese investors to invest in clean agriculture and high-tech industries; he also requested JICA to continue prioritizing support for ongoing ODA projects and to mobilize funding to focus on poverty alleviation, development of social security networks, essential infrastructure services, and infrastructure projects in Nghe An.

Provincial leaders and leaders of corporations also discussed the possibility of cooperation and investment in projects in the province in the coming time; among the areas of interest to Japanese businesses were investment in electronic component manufacturing plants; garment and high-tech industries, and the province's human resource capacity.

Concluding the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh emphasized: Regarding the issues of interest to Japanese businesses, Nghe An province will strive to meet them to the fullest extent.

Regarding the businesses' request for human resource cooperation with Nghe An province, the provincial leadership will assign relevant departments and vocational training schools to coordinate with businesses to establish training and recruitment links to meet the requirements of Japanese businesses.

Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh proposed that, in the immediate future, during the years 2017-2019, Shumitomo Group and Sumidenso Group should effectively cooperate in recruiting and training human resources for the province, and by 2020, they should invest in building factories in Nghe An.

The Provincial Party Secretary assigned the Nghe An Provincial Investment Promotion and Support Center the task of connecting and coordinating to create favorable conditions for Japanese businesses to explore investment opportunities in the province and make investment decisions soon.

The Provincial Party Secretary expressed his hope that the JICA Office, Shumitomo Group, and Sumidenso Group would act as a bridge to provide information on Nghe An's investment attraction to Japanese businesses, so that more Japanese businesses would invest in the province.
