After 20 years in the profession, and being originally from Hanoi, Cong Ly still rents his house.
The actor who plays 'Bac Dau' in the Tet Comedy Show said he still doesn't own a house in Hanoi, even though he was born and raised there.
On the afternoon of November 25th, Cong Ly attended a press conference in Hanoi to introduce the film "Across the Old Street." The actor dressed simply and brought his daughter along. "Bac Dau" reunited with his ex-wife Thao Van, who hosted the event. The two didn't hesitate to pose for photos together and even playfully teased each other in front of everyone.

"Across the Old Street" is a new television series by director Trinh Le Phong. The film revolves around the story of a large, original Hanoi family with four children: Ha, Thanh, Thanh, and Lich. In the film, Cong Ly plays Tuyen, Lich's husband.
Tuyen is a simple, kind-hearted man, so he is deeply loved by his wife's family. When turmoil struck his wife's family, Tuyen was the most resilient and steadfast person, helping his wife and her siblings overcome the difficulties.
Cong Ly is famous for his comedic roles on television, especially his portrayal of Bac Dau in the Tet Comedy Show, but he is still highly regarded by professionals and audiences alike when participating in political dramas or films about family themes.

The actor, born in 1973, said he had no difficulty playing roles like Tuyen's because he believes that "it's harder to push emotions to the limit, but it's much simpler to transition from comedic characters to more introspective roles."
Besides that, Cong Ly also humorously revealed that although he was born and raised in Hanoi, he had never played a character from the capital before. In "Across the Old Street," the actor also played the role of a son-in-law – a character from Quang Ninh who married a woman from Hanoi, not a native of Thang An (Hanoi).
"They say that right in the end, wrong in the end, and that's absolutely true. I'm from Hanoi, but I wasn't allowed to play a Hanoi character. It's like having a central accent but a local face. Even so, I'm very happy to be a part of this project. After filming was finished, the crew members felt a great fondness for each other," the actor shared.
When asked by the press, "You were born and raised in Hanoi, do you own a house here?", Bac Dau frankly replied, "I am from Hanoi, but I don't own a house yet."
"A Walk Across the Old Street" marks the return to acting for actress Minh Trang. In the film, she plays Phuong, the eldest daughter-in-law and wife of Ha (played by People's Artist Bui Bai Binh). The script included a scene where Ha slaps Phuong, and the film crew had to shoot this scene three times to get it right. "Mr. Binh slapped me three times, each time with fiery force, slapping one cheek while making the other ear ring. But we just glared at each other and let it go," the veteran actress shared with a laugh. In response to Minh Trang's comment, People's Artist Bui Bai Binh said: "Thanks to the scriptwriter and director, I got to play the role of slapping my wife, whereas at home, I'm always the one getting slapped by my wife." |
