200,000 doses of Vero-cell vaccine have arrived in Nghe An.

On the morning of September 28th, Mr. Tran Minh Tue, Deputy Director of the Department of Health, stated that as of now, Nghe An province has administered 504,182 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. Of these, 90,140 people have completed two doses, and 414,042 people have received at least one dose.

Currently, nearly 700,000 doses of vaccine have been delivered to Nghe An. Of these, 200,000 doses of Vero-cell vaccine have been received at the warehouse of Military Region 4.

According to Mr. Tue, these vaccines have not yet been administered because they are awaiting the release certificate from the National Institute of Vaccine and Biological Products Testing. Currently, the Department of Health has advised on the issuance of a decision to allocate them to units for vaccination in phase 17.

Unlike many other COVID-19 vaccines, the Vero-cell vaccine from Sinopharm Group (China) has a shelf life of up to 24 months.

Thus, currently, two doses have been administered to groups 1 to 4. Vaccination is being rolled out for groups 5 to 9, with some groups already having received at least one dose, such as customs officers and essential service providers.

According to the Ministry of Health, Vietnam has received more than 50 million doses of various types of Covid-19 vaccines from different sources. As of this morning, more than 40 million doses have been administered, with over 8.3 million people having completed two doses.
Vietnam aims to receive 150 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine this year, vaccinating approximately 70% of the population to achieve herd immunity. Vietnam has conditionally approved eight Covid-19 vaccines, including AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Pfizer, Sinopharm, Hayat-Vax, and Abdala, among others.
