Of this total, exports accounted for 200,000 tons, or 22.6%; imports accounted for 50,000 tons, or 5%; domestic goods accounted for 550,000 tons, or 65.7%; and transit goods accounted for 6.5%.

Exported goods through the port in the first quarter included clinker, wood chips, cassava flour, and equipment shipped to Laos...

The structure of goods passing through the port in the first quarter shows: Clinker: in the first three months of the year, the volume of this item reached 68,132 tons (compared to no clinker in the same period of 2015). Equipment reached 14,004 tons, an increase of 143.6% compared to the same period of 2015 due to equipment shipments to Laos. In addition, wood chips, cassava flour, and steel sheets were exported.

Containerized cargo also performed well, reaching 246,818 tons, a 16% increase compared to the same period in 2015, thanks to the addition of a new shipping company (Vinafco) operating at Cua Lo Port. However, according to Mr. Nguyen Danh Hai, Head of Business Department of Nghe Tinh Port Company, the volume of raw stone cargo handled through the port has decreased significantly due to the government's ban on the export of raw stone.
