According to Metro, the woman went to the doctor complaining of dry, irritated eyes. She believed the condition was due to old age, but when examined, doctors found 17 contact lenses stuck in her eyes. On closer inspection, 10 more lenses were discovered.
“It was too much,” said Rupal Morjaria, the doctor who examined the 67-year-old woman. “We were really surprised that the patient did not notice anything when she should have had a severe reaction.”
Explaining the cause of this strange condition, the medical team said that the woman had been wearing contact lenses for 35 years but had not had regular eye check-ups. She did not even know why her contact lenses kept disappearing, so she had to replace them with new ones every day.
After the doctors removed 27 glasses, the female patient's eyes were "more comfortable". After 2 weeks in the hospital, she recovered and returned home.
