While visiting a doctor for dry eyes, a 67-year-old female patient from the UK was found to have 27 contact lenses in her eye.

Wearing contact lenses requires careful handling, otherwise it can lead to unpredictable consequences, as in the case of a 67-year-old woman in England.

According to Metro, the woman went to the clinic because of eye irritation and dryness. She believed the condition was due to old age, but upon examination, the doctor found 17 contact lenses stuck in her eyes. A closer look revealed another 10 lenses.

"That's too much," said Rupal Morjaria, the doctor who examined the 67-year-old woman. "We were really surprised that the patient didn't seem to notice anything when she should have been experiencing severe irritation."

Explaining the cause of this strange situation, the medical team said the woman had been wearing contact lenses for 35 years without regular eye checkups. She didn't even know why her contact lenses kept disappearing, so she would insert new lenses on top of each other every day.

After doctors removed 27 lenses from her eyes, the female patient felt much more comfortable. She recovered after two weeks in the hospital and returned home.
