(Baonghean.vn) - On August 21, the Ky Son District People's Court held a first-instance trial of Vy Van May, born in 1983, residing in Ba village, Huu Kiem commune (Ky Son district), on the charge of "Illegal trafficking of narcotics" as stipulated in Clause 1, Article 251 of the Penal Code.

According to the indictment, at approximately 8:00 AM on April 17, 2018, May hired a motorbike taxi to go to Dua village, Luong Minh commune, Ky Son district, to buy a block of heroin from an unknown person for 200,000 VND.Afterward, May went home and divided the heroin into 24 small packets to sell for profit.

However, May was discovered and arrested before she could sell the drugs to anyone.

At the trial, the defendant May confessed honestly and admitted to her crime. When questioned by the judge, May stated that her purpose in selling heroin was to earn money for medical treatment.

Based on the case file and the proceedings at the trial, the panel of judges sentenced May to 27 months in prison.
