Specifically, around February 2016, Ms. VTH (born in 1983), residing in Tuong Duong district, left home to seek work due to a conflict with her husband. During her job search, Ms. VTH met with Lo Thi Le and Lo Thi Tham in Vinh City. There, Le and Tham offered to introduce Ms. H to a Chinese man if she wanted a better life, and Ms. H agreed. Afterward, Tham called Ms. Vi Thi Xuan (born in 1964, already married to a Chinese man) to Le's house to meet Ms. H and Tham. There, all three—Ms. Xuan, Le, and Tham—told Ms. H that they would take her to China to marry a Chinese man, and she would receive 80 million VND.
Later, Ms. Xuan agreed with Tham and Le that if they successfully trafficked the girls to China to be married off, she would pay Le and Tham 5 million dong each. The next day, Ms. Xuan and Ms. H went to the Khe Bo intersection in Tam Quang commune, Tuong Duong district, and took a bus to the Mong Cai border gate in Quang Ninh province.
Upon reaching the Mong Cai border gate, Ms. Xuan and Ms. H were guided by a man to cross the border into China and then took a bus to the house of a Vietnamese woman. There, this woman and Ms. Xuan sold Ms. H to a Chinese man for 50,000 Chinese yuan. Afterwards, Ms. Xuan received 25 million dong as payment and returned to Vietnam.
Upon returning to Vietnam, Ms. Xuan summoned Le and Tham to her house in Yen Hoa commune, Tuong Duong district, and gave each of them 5,000,000 VND. Meanwhile, Ms. H, who was in China, fled back to Vietnam in May 2017.
Currently, the police in Tuong Duong district are holding three suspects in custody: Vi Thi Xuan, Lo Thi Tham, and Lo Thi Le.
