3 female monsters born in the 70s stole electric cables to sell as scrap, causing damage of more than 1.5 billion VND

Previously, in September 2024, at a number of construction projects on Nguyen Sy Sach extended road in Hung Hoa commune and 72m road in Nghi Duc commune (Vinh city), Nghi Thach commune (Nghi Loc district), there were consecutive incidents of electric cable theft, some cabinets and plastic pipes used to protect electric wires were also pried open, broken, crushed, causing estimated damage of more than 1.5 billion VND.

Faced with the above situation, the Provincial Police leaders directed Vinh City Police to establish a special project, assigning the Criminal Police Team to preside over and coordinate with the General Investigation Team and related units to investigate.

Synchronously deploying professional measures, on October 1, 2024, Vinh City Police presided over and coordinated with Nghi Loc District Police to successfully crack the case, arresting 04 subjects, including: Nguyen Thi Lieu (born in 1979), residing in Block 10, Cua Nam Ward, Vinh City; Nguyen Thi An (born in 1971), Nguyen Thi Xuan (born in 1976), both residing in Nghi Xuan Commune, Nghi Loc District for the act of property theft and Nguyen Van Cay (born in 1980), residing in Nghi Phong Commune, Nghi Loc District for the act of receiving property obtained by others through crime. Confiscated exhibits included 02 electric cable cutters and many copper core electrical sections that had been cut short by the subjects for easy transportation and consumption, along with a number of other exhibits.

Initially, the Vinh City Police Investigation Agency clarified: Due to lack of money for personal expenses, from September 11 to September 26, 2024, with sophisticated and professional methods and tricks, taking advantage of security guards' loopholes, late at night and early morning, Nguyen Thi Lieu, Nguyen Thi An and Nguyen Thi Xuan colluded with each other to commit 03 cases of electric cable theft.

Specifically: At 1:30 a.m. on September 11, 2024, 3 subjects stole 1,200 meters of underground power cable, worth more than 384 million VND at 72m road in Nghi Thach commune, Nghi Loc district; At 2:00 a.m. on September 23, 2024, stole more than 3,000 meters of underground power cable and twisted bare copper ground wire, worth 650 million VND at the extended Nguyen Sy Sach road in Hung Hoa commune (Vinh city). Then, at 02:15, September 26, 2024, when passing through the construction site of a 72m road in Nghi Duc commune (Vinh city), 03 subjects discovered that there were unfinished electric cable ends exposed at the foot of the street lighting poles, so they stole 2,700m of underground electric cable and 32 twisted bare copper grounded wire sections, worth 480 million VND).

After committing the crime, the three subjects took the stolen underground power cables and twisted bare copper ground wires and sold them to Nguyen Van Cay - the owner of a scrap shop in Nghi Phong commune to get money to spend. Although he knew that the stolen power cables and twisted bare copper ground wires were for sale, Nguyen Van Cay still bought them and paid Lieu, An, and Xuan.

The Vinh City Police Investigation Agency has decided to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and detain Nguyen Thi Lieu, Nguyen Thi An, Nguyen Thi Xuan for the crime of Theft of property and Nguyen Van Cay for the crime of Receiving property obtained by others through crime; at the same time, continue to fight to expand the project.
