30 months in prison for man who bought drugs to resell for profit.
(Baonghean.vn) - On June 20th, at the headquarters of Bac Ly Commune People's Committee, the Ky Son District People's Court held a mobile court session to try four criminal cases involving six defendants charged with illegally buying, selling, and possessing narcotics.

According to the indictment, at approximately 1 PM on March 2, 2017, Lu Van Pham (born in 1970), residing in La Ngan village, Chieu Luu commune (Ky Son district), walked from his home to Tat Thoong village, in the same commune, to buy drugs. There, Pham bought 0.7g of heroin from an unknown man for 500,000 VND. He then divided the purchased drugs into 26 small packets and kept them on his person. At 5 PM the same day, Pham sold two packets of drugs to two drug addicts in the village for 20,000 VND per packet. At approximately 10:30 PM on March 3, 2017, Lu Van Pham was caught red-handed by the Ky Son District Police, and all the heroin was seized.

At the trial, Lu Van Pham admitted his guilt, and the court sentenced him to 30 months in prison for "illegally trading in narcotics."

On the same day, the People's Court of Ky Son District also tried three other cases with the same charge of illegally possessing narcotics, including the defendants: Lo May Tuyen (born in 1990), residing in Son Thanh village, Ta Ca commune; Va Ba Ly (born in 1988), residing in Muong Long commune; Cut Van Tuyen (born in 1996), residing in Huoi Nhuc village, Pha Danh commune; Tran Nhat Quy (born in 1992), residing in Na Luong 2 village, Huu Kiem commune; and Ven Van Xi (born in 2000), residing in Huoi Cang 1 village, Bac Ly commune. The defendants received sentences ranging from 12 to 15 months of imprisonment. Defendant Ven Van Xi was sentenced by the panel of judges to 3 months and 28 days of imprisonment, calculated from the date of his detention; Xi was released at the court.
