35 hectares of corn in Thanh Chuong were flattened after heavy rain.
(Baonghean.vn) - A heavy rainstorm at around 4 PM on June 4th caused more than 35 hectares of corn in several communes in Thanh Chuong district to be flattened.

Present at the Lam River alluvial plain area in Dai Dong commune, districtThanh ChuongOn the morning of June 5th, we witnessed large areas of corn fields being flattened.
A farmer in Dai Dong commune, Thanh Chuong district, shared: "This area of flattened corn was planted at the beginning of February 2023 and now has young ears of corn. In the floodplain area, my family has 4 sao (approximately 0.4 hectares) of corn that has been damaged. Because it has fallen over and broken at the stem, it cannot be salvaged; we can only harvest the corn stalks to use as animal feed."

According to a representative from the People's Committee of Dai Dong commune: The entire commune has 36 hectares of corn fields on the Lam River floodplain. Heavy rain and strong winds have flattened and broken more than 5 hectares. Currently, the commune is directing the hamlets to utilize the flattened and broken corn as animal feed.
According to a report from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee, the entire district has over 2,000 hectares of corn, expected to be harvested in about 10 days, with an average yield of about 3 quintals of corn per sao (approximately 1000 square meters). The heavy rain on the afternoon of June 4th caused more than 35 hectares of corn to be flattened or broken, mainly concentrated in communes along the Lam River alluvial plain such as Dai Dong, Cat Van, Xuan Tuong, Thanh Luong…
