35 hectares of corn in Thanh Chuong collapsed after heavy rain

A farmer in Dai Dong commune, Thanh Chuong district shared: The corn area that was collapsed was planted in early February 2023, and now has young corn. In the beach area, my family has 4 sao of damaged corn. Because it was collapsed and broken in half, it could not be repaired, and the only way to harvest the corn was to feed livestock.

A representative of the People's Committee of Dai Dong Commune said: The entire commune has 36 hectares of corn on Lam River alluvial land. Heavy rain and strong winds have caused more than 5 hectares to fall and break. Currently, the commune is directing hamlets to utilize the fallen and broken corn as animal feed.
According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thanh Chuong District People's Committee, the whole district has over 2,000 hectares of corn, expected to be harvested in the next 10 days, with an average yield of about 3 quintals of corn per sao. The heavy rain on the afternoon of June 4 caused over 35 hectares of corn to fall and break, mainly concentrated in communes along the Lam River alluvial plain such as Dai Dong, Cat Van, Xuan Tuong, Thanh Luong, etc.
