4 Vietnamese faces speaking at APEC CEO Summit: Who are they?

(Baonghean.vn) - Four Vietnamese businessmen invited to participate in the dialogue at APEC CEO Summit taking place from the afternoon of November 8 to November 10 are all leaders of large domestic enterprises.

1. Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuan - Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of TBS Group

Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuan - Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of TBS Group is one of four representatives of the host economy Vietnam attending APEC CEO Summit 2017, participating in the discussion on the topic "Future of Work".

Mr. Thuan's Thai Binh Shoes Company (TBS Group) was established in 1989. According to estimates based on the VNR500 rankings, TBS Group ranked 144th and achieved revenue of about 6,000 billion VND in 2015 and 7,000 billion VND in 2016.

After more than 25 years of operation, from a modest shoe factory with 1,000 workers, TBS Group has more than 40,000 employees operating in 6 main areas: Footwear and handbag manufacturing, investment and asset management, logistics, hotels and retail, with nearly 20 production areas stretching from North to South.

In addition, TBS Group also has representative offices located in the US, Hong Kong, China and Korea.

2. Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - General Director of Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company (Vietjet Air)

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao is the co-founder and Chairwoman of Sovico Holdings and CEO of VietJet Air. She is recognized by Forbes as Vietnam's first self-made female billionaire.

Specifically, Ms. Thao is holding 98 million VJC shares worth VND12,318 trillion, Sunny Huong Duong holds 69.7 million VJC shares, equivalent to VND8,76 trillion. That is not to mention the indirect holding of JVC shares through Sovico and HDBank, of which Ms. Thao is a member of the Board of Directors.

In Forbes magazine's list of the 100 most powerful women in the world in 2017, the powerful female CEO of Vietjet Air ranked 55th, alongside prominent names such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Melinda Gates, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg and even the daughter of US President Ivanka Trump.

As of November 2, 2017, Forbes estimated Ms. Thao's assets at 1.9 billion USD and her ranking on the billionaire list was 1,251. At APEC CEO Summit 2017, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao will participate in the dialogue session "Connecting for Growth".

3. Ms. Duong Thi Mai Hoa - General Director of Vingroup Corporation

Ms. Duong Thi Mai Hoa, born in 1969, holds a Master of Business Administration from the joint Master of Management program between the Graduate School of the National Economics University and the Free University of Brussels, Belgium. Ms. Hoa is also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) since September 2010.

Ms. Duong Thi Mai Hoa has 18 years of experience in financial management and accounting at 100% foreign-owned companies, branches of multinational corporations, branches of large international banks operating in Vietnam, including key positions at VIB, Maritime Bank or Oracle Vietnam.

Before joining Vingroup, Ms. Hoa held the position of General Director of Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank (VIB). She is currently the General Director of Vingroup.

At APEC CEO Summit 2017, Ms. Duong Thi Mai Hoa will be a guest in the session on "New Job Creators".

4. Ms. Thai Huong - Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of TH True Milk Food Joint Stock Company

Ms. Thai Huong (58 years old) has only been involved in the dairy industry since 2009 but has made many impressions on the Vietnamese dairy industry.

Ms. Thai Huong started building TH true MILK in 2009, when she was the General Director of Bac A Bank - one of the first banks founded by her and her shareholders. The position of the owner of a famous and successful bank is enough honor for a businesswoman, but she did not let herself rest but started a new "game" by establishing TH Group with the famous project: Producing fresh milk TH true MILK.

Only 6 years after entering the market, under her leadership, TH true MILK became a major brand in the Vietnamese dairy industry and expanded to the international market.
