Four Vietnamese speakers at the APEC CEO Summit: Who are they?

(Baonghean.vn) - Four Vietnamese businesspeople invited to participate in the APEC CEO Summit dialogue, held from the afternoon of November 8th to November 10th, are all leaders of large domestic enterprises.

1. Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuan - Chairman of the Board and CEO of TBS Group

Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuan - Chairman of the Board and CEO of TBS Group - was one of four representatives from the host economy, Vietnam, attending the APEC CEO Summit 2017, participating in discussions on the topic "The Future of Work".

Mr. Thuan's Thai Binh Shoes (TBS Group) was established in 1989. According to estimates based on the VNR500 ranking, TBS Group ranked 144th and achieved revenue of approximately VND 6,000 billion in 2015 and VND 7,000 billion in 2016.

After more than 25 years of operation, from a humble shoe factory with 1,000 workers, TBS Group now has over 40,000 employees operating in 6 main areas: footwear manufacturing, handbags, investment and asset management, logistics, hotels and retail, with nearly 20 production facilities stretching from North to South.

In addition, TBS Group has representative offices located in the United States, Hong Kong, China, and South Korea.

2. Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - General Director of Vietjet Air Joint Stock Company

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao is the co-founder and chair of Sovico Holdings, and also the CEO of VietJet Air. She is recognized by Forbes as Vietnam's first self-made female billionaire.

Specifically, Ms. Thao holds 98 million VJC shares worth 12.318 trillion VND, while Sunny Huong Duong holds 69.7 million VJC shares, equivalent to 8.76 trillion VND. This does not include her indirect holdings of VJC shares through Sovico and HDBank, where Ms. Thao is a member of the Board of Directors.

In Forbes magazine's 2017 list of the 100 most powerful women in the world, the powerful female CEO of Vietjet Air ranked 55th, alongside prominent names such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Melinda Gates, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, and even the daughter of the US President, Ivanka Trump.

As of November 2nd, 2017, Forbes estimated Ms. Thao's net worth at $1.9 billion, placing her at number 1,251 on the billionaire list. At the APEC CEO Summit 2017, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao will participate in the dialogue session "Connecting for Growth".

3. Ms. Duong Thi Mai Hoa - General Director of Vingroup Corporation

Ms. Duong Thi Mai Hoa, born in 1969, holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree obtained through a joint master's program between the Graduate School of the National Economics University and the Free University of Brussels, Belgium. Ms. Hoa has also been a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) since September 2010.

Ms. Duong Thi Mai Hoa has 18 years of experience in financial management and accounting at 100% foreign-owned companies, branches of multinational corporations, and branches of major international banks operating in Vietnam, including key positions at VIB, Maritime Bank, and Oracle Vietnam.

Prior to joining Vingroup, Ms. Hoa served as the General Director of Vietnam International Commercial Bank (VIB). Currently, she holds the position of General Director of Vingroup.

At the APEC CEO Summit 2017, Ms. Duong Thi Mai Hoa will be a guest speaker in the session on "Creating New Jobs".

4. Ms. Thai Huong - Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of TH Dairy Food Joint Stock Company (TH True Milk)

Ms. Thai Huong - Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of TH Dairy Food Joint Stock Company (TH True Milk).

Ms. Thai Huong (58 years old), despite only entering the dairy industry in 2009, has made a significant impact on the Vietnamese dairy sector.

Ms. Thai Huong began building TH true MILK in 2009, when she was already the General Director of Bac A Bank - one of the first banks she and her shareholders founded. Her position as the owner of a successful and prestigious bank was a great honor for a businesswoman, but she didn't rest on her laurels. Instead, she embarked on a new "game" by establishing the TH Group with its flagship project: the production of TH true MILK fresh milk.

Just six years after entering the market, under her leadership, TH true MILK became a major brand in the Vietnamese dairy industry and expanded into the international market.

At the APEC CEO Summit 2017, Ms. Thai Huong will participate in a dialogue on "Efficient Resource Use and Sustainable Growth".
