Check out the reasons below to help you consider and choose whether to use a microwave or not.

Microwave ovens are one of the most purchased and widely used appliances in the past few decades because they are extremely convenient and save time and energy for your family. It would be difficult to give up such an essential item in life.

However, see the reasons below for you to consider and choose whether to use a microwave or not.

1. Electromagnetic energy

Microwaves are a form of electromagnetic energy, just like light waves or radio waves. They are very short waves of electromagnetic energy and travel at the speed of light (186,282 miles per second).

When operating, microwaves generate magnetrons, which are absorbed by water, fat, sugar and other organic substances. These food molecules are usually in the form of electric dipoles (one end is negatively charged and the other end is positively charged). These electric dipoles in food tend to rotate so that they lie parallel to the direction of the external electric field. All these movements create molecular friction and heat the food. During the process of molecular friction, significant damage is also caused to the surrounding molecules, which are often torn or deformed. Microwave cooking can destroy and change the molecular structure of food due to the radiation process.

2. Toxic effects of packaged foods

Microwaving food packaged in plastic, cellophane, cardboard, and styrofoam can release harmful toxins, even carcinogenic, such as adipate, phthalate, benzophenone, etc. These toxins (found in label ink, plastic, etc.) seep into the food during the cooking process. Since most of these packagings do not melt or heat up during microwave use, consumers have the misconception that they are not toxic. These toxins can cause hormonal imbalances, reduced sperm count, and various cancers.

In particular, do not use a microwave to cook smoked or marinated meats because these foods contain a lot of nitrites, which when cooked in a microwave will produce nitrosamines, which are very strong carcinogens.

3. Electromagnetic fields (EMF) and radiation

There are many studies related to EMFs (electromagnetic fields) created by household electrical appliances including microwave ovens. Dr. David Carpenter-New York University School of Public Health, USA believes that 30% of all childhood cancers are caused by exposure to EMFs.

A Gauss meter is a device that measures EMFs. During his research, David measured the leakage of EMFs when using a microwave oven and found it to be up to six feet away. So, to be safe, it is best to stay away from the microwave while it is running.

4. New compounds form in your body

In addition to losing nutrients, microwaves also produce new compounds (radiolytic compounds) that are unknown to humans and nature. Although we do not understand and know exactly what these compounds will do in the human body, do you really want the compounds in your food to change? Find out for yourself and inform everyone.
