Four people in Con Cuong (Nghe An province) were arrested for cutting down acacia trees due to a personal dispute.
(Baonghean.vn) - Due to a dispute over cattle damaging a eucalyptus plantations, four people in Con Cuong brought knives and cut down hundreds of eucalyptus trees belonging to two other households, causing tens of millions of dong in damage.
The Con Cuong District Police are currently detaining four individuals: Kha Thi Pom (born in 1977), Lo Thi Son (born in 1975), Phay Thi Nga (born in 1983), and Vi Van Ngoc (born in 1977), all residing in Yen Khe commune, Con Cuong district, to investigate their involvement in property damage.
Kha Thi Pom and Lo Thi Son were arrested by the police after investigating a report filed by Ms. Kha Thi G. (born in 1975, residing in Trung Huong village, Yen Khe commune).

Previously, on October 6, 2019, when Ms. G. visited her family's acacia plantation, she discovered that hundreds of four-year-old acacia trees had been vandalized and cut down. Authorities examined the scene and determined that 171 acacia trees had been cut down, causing approximately 10 million VND in damage to Ms. G.'s family.
Police believe the incident may have stemmed from a conflict between households growing acacia trees and people who graze their buffalo and cattle. On October 10, 2019, the Con Cuong District Police arrested Kha Thi Pom and Lo Thi Son.
At the investigative agency, the two suspects confessed that, due to a conflict with Ms. G.'s family, on the evening of October 5, 2019, Pom brought a knife and invited Son to go into Ms. G.'s acacia garden to cut down the acacia trees to vent their anger.

These two individuals also confessed that on August 20, 2018, they invited Phay Thi Nga (born in 1983) and Vi Van Ngoc (born in 1977, both residing in Trung Huong village, Yen Khe commune) to cut down 775 acacia trees belonging to the family of Mr. Trinh Van C. (born in 1982) in Trung Thanh village, Yen Khe commune.
The conflict arose because these individuals' cattle and buffaloes had encroached upon and destroyed the acacia forest belonging to Mr. C.'s family. Mr. C. demanded compensation, leading to the dispute. These individuals then conspired to cut down the acacia trees in the forest as revenge, causing Mr. C.'s family losses exceeding 21 million VND.
