Specifically, a Russian lawmaker revealed to TASS on September 24 that the annexation of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and Lugansk People's Republic (LPR) as well as the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions to Russia could take place as early as September 30. The member of the Russian State Duma said: "Considering the preliminary results of the referendums and Russia's readiness to confirm them, the annexation of the territories (DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions to Russia) could take place as early as September 30."
The lawmaker said Russian President Putin could take part in the process on September 30. “I don’t know if he will attend, but he probably will,” the lawmaker said.
Yaroslav Nilov, deputy chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), told TASS that the State Duma members had not been informed about the above content. However, Nilov said, “Senators have been asked to pass three PCR tests in order to be able to participate in an important event on September 30.”
Earlier, the LPR and DPR, as well as the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, began voting on joining Russia as subordinate territories on the morning of September 23. The voting will be extended until September 27.
