40 prisoners in Nghe An province received sentence reductions during the Lunar New Year holiday.
On the morning of February 14th, the Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center held a ceremony to announce and present decisions to reduce the prison sentences of 40 inmates currently serving their sentences at the facility. Among them, 10 inmates had their remaining sentences completely reduced, allowing them to return home and reunite with their families for the Lunar New Year.
According to the decisions of the Sentence Reduction Council, during the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, the Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center has 40 inmates who meet the criteria for sentence reduction. These are all inmates who have shown good conduct and rehabilitation, strictly adhered to the detention facility's regulations, and fully meet the standards prescribed by law.
Of these, 10 inmates had their remaining prison sentences completely reduced, allowing them to return to their hometowns, reunite with their families, and have a chance to rebuild their lives.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Tho, Deputy Superintendent of the Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center, said that being considered for sentence reduction, especially having their entire prison term reduced during the Lunar New Year, is of great significance to those who have made mistakes. This is not only a joy and timely encouragement for the inmates but also a motivation for them to continue striving to become useful citizens for society.
This latest reduction in prison sentences further affirms the lenient policy of the Party and the State; demonstrating the humanity and humanitarian tradition of the nation towards offenders. Through this, it encourages prisoners serving sentences to repent, actively study and work towards rehabilitation, and reintegrate into the community and stabilize their lives as soon as possible.
