46/53 people bitten by dogs have been vaccinated

(Baonghean.vn) - 46/53 people bitten by dogs in Thanh Mai commune, Thanh Chuong district have been vaccinated.

As reported by Nghe An Newspaper: Since the beginning of the year, in Thanh Mai commune, Thanh Chuong district, 53 people have been bitten by dogs, of which 40 people were in Nam Son hamlet. The majority of people bitten by dogs did not get rabies vaccinations but instead went together to buy traditional medicine to take. Currently, there is 1 death, 4-year-old Le Viet Hoang.

Information from Thanh Mai Commune Health Station: The reason why people do not get rabies vaccination is because they are afraid that rabies vaccination will affect their health; despite being informed and explained by health workers.

After Le Viet Hoang died on March 22, 2017, Thanh Chuong District Medical Center and Thanh Mai Commune implemented many measures of propaganda, counseling, and mobilization. By the morning of March 24, 46/53 people had received rabies vaccination.

On the morning of March 24, a working group of Nghe An Department of Health led by Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hong - Deputy Director of the Department of Health came to supervise rabies prevention work in Thanh Mai commune. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hong requested Thanh Chuong District Medical Center, Thanh Mai Commune People's Committee, Thanh Mai Commune Health Station to be more proactive and strengthen rabies prevention work; fully count the cases of rabies dog bites, those who have been vaccinated and those who have not been vaccinated to advise people to get fully vaccinated as soon as possible, monitor the health status of each patient; at the same time, step up propaganda work for people in many forms.

In the next 2 days, Thanh Mai commune needs to coordinate with the Health Department and the Veterinary Department of Thanh Chuong district to vaccinate all dogs in the commune. Any households that do not comply should request the local authorities to take measures to handle them. At the same time, the commune needs to implement a commitment to vaccinate dogs against rabies./.
