5.5 million Viettel 5G network users
According to information from Viettel Telecommunications Corporation, as of the end of January 2025, there were 5.5 million Viettel 5G users nationwide, concentrated in all 63 provinces and cities.
Of these, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have the largest number of 5G users with 2.4 million, equivalent to more than 40% of the total 5G users nationwide. Also in the top 5 provinces with the most 5G users are Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Can Tho.
According to data from Viettel's network, during the recent Lunar New Year (Year of the Snake), 5G data traffic surged after Viettel launched its new 5G package with the following syntax:Send TET5G to 191In addition, the NINE 5G postpaid plan, launched at the same time as the network's opening, has also achieved initial success with good growth, currently accounting for nearly 10% of Viettel's postpaid subscribers after only a few months of officially being offered to the market.
This boost helped Viettel's 5G network quickly reach 5.5 million users in just over 3 months after its launch, bringing it closer to its goal of 10 million 5G users by 2025.
Currently, Viettel's post-Tet sales and festival sales programs in the provinces are being actively implemented, boosting 5G subscriber numbers nationwide.
With the motto "modernizing traditional values," Viettel's booths at festivals are equipped with many smart devices so that customers can experience new technologies based on 5G, such as playing games with VR and AR virtual reality glasses, watching 4K/8K content on TV360... Especially, visitors from all over can also experience AI technology through direct one-on-one interaction with virtual ambassador Vi An.
On October 15, 2024, Viettel launched Vietnam's first and largest 5G network with 6,500 base stations, ensuring outdoor coverage of over 90% of the capital areas in all 63 provinces and cities, industrial zones, schools, airports, seaports, etc., and continuously expanding to ensure that customers have readily available 5G coverage at all times, no matter where they travel.
Viettel's 5G network speeds can reach 700Mbps - 1Gbps, 10 times faster than 4G, with near-zero latency, and is deployed simultaneously on both 5G NSA (non-stand-alone) and 5G SA (stand-alone) architectures.
