5 new features on the newly launched Honda Air Blade 2016.
Honda retained the 125cc eSP engine but increased power, reduced weight by 3 kg, and a noticeably redesigned appearance.
The 2016 Air Blade was launched on November 27th. Priced from 38 million VND, it features a sportier, more compact design. Here are five new features on this model.
1. Full LED headlight assembly
The 2016 Air Blade model is equipped with full LED headlights. LED technology increases illumination while saving more energy than traditional halogen or bi-xenon lights.
Meanwhile, the third-generation Air Blade in Vietnam uses a dual projector headlight assembly, allowing two bulbs to illuminate simultaneously in two modes (low beam - high beam).
Furthermore, the LED headlights on the 4th generation Air Blade help to make the front end sleeker and 24% smaller than the previous generation. While LED technology isn't new, it's not yet widely used in many motorcycle models in Vietnam. In addition, the sport version features LED lights around the ignition lock, making it easier to insert the key in the dark.
2. Sturdy and shorter design
The new Air Blade features a completely new design language, more angular and robust than the previous generation. At first glance, users can see the sturdy lines that appeared on the first generation have been reused; however, the 2016 Air Blade is significantly thicker than the first version.
The new Air Blade design reduces the overall length compared to the previous version. The 2016 Air Blade is only 1,881 mm long, while the previous version was 1,901 mm. The width remains at 687 mm, while the height is 1,111 mm, a decrease of 4 mm (the previous version was 1,115 mm).
3. Lighter weight
The 2016 Honda Air Blade utilizes new manufacturing technology, with a lighter frame material while maintaining rigidity. The total weight of the 2016 Air Blade is 110 kg, compared to 113 kg for the previous version (a reduction of 3 kg).
4. More powerful engine
Although still using the same 125cc, 4-stroke, 1-cylinder, liquid-cooled eSP engine with electronic fuel injection, the new engine boasts higher performance. The 2015 Air Blade had a maximum power output of 8.2 kW, while the new version has been upgraded to 8.4 kW.
The acceleration of the new Air Blade is also better. According to the manufacturer, when accelerating from 0-200 m, the 2016 Air Blade is ahead of the previous generation by twice the length of the vehicle (approximately 4m). The new engine is also 4% more fuel-efficient than the previous generation.
5. Add more genuine aftermarket parts.
For the first time, Honda is offering genuine aftermarket parts for the Air Blade. Previously, they didn't focus on this area, so motorcycle enthusiasts had to import aftermarket parts from abroad at a rather high price.
Now, with the availability of aftermarket accessories, car modification enthusiasts have more options to transform their vehicles into unique creations. Of course, the selection of accessories is not as extensive as the market outside.
