5-day holiday: Over 9,000 drunk drivers dealt with.

On the afternoon of May 4th, the Traffic Police Department reported on the traffic safety situation during the 5-day holiday period of April 30th and May 1st (from April 30th to May 4th). They stated that nationwide, there were 268 traffic accidents, resulting in 128 deaths and 203 injuries. Compared to the same holiday period in 2024, this represents a decrease of 79 accidents (22.77%), 10 deaths (7.25%), and 82 injuries (28.77%).

Of the aforementioned accidents, 265 occurred on roads, resulting in 126 deaths and 200 injuries, a decrease of 81 accidents (23.41%), 11 deaths (8.03%), and 85 injuries (29.82%) compared to the same period in 2024. Two accidents occurred on railways, resulting in 1 death and no injuries, an increase of 2 accidents and 1 death, with no increase or decrease in the number of injuries. One accident occurred on waterways, resulting in 1 death and 3 injuries, with no increase or decrease in the number of accidents and deaths, but an increase of 3 injuries compared to the same period last year.

During the 5-day holiday, the national traffic police handled 42,620 traffic violations; temporarily seized 221 cars, 11,335 motorcycles, and 351 other vehicles; revoked 1,316 driver's licenses of all types, and deducted points from driver's licenses in 5,554 cases.

Compared to the same period in 2024 (5-day holiday from April 30th to May 1st, 2024), the number of violations penalized decreased by 35,634 cases (45.53%). Specifically, on roads, 41,776 violations were processed, resulting in the temporary seizure of 221 cars, 11,335 motorcycles, and 351 other vehicles; the revocation of 1,313 driver's licenses; 9,154 cases of drunk driving; 11,360 cases of speeding; 256 cases of overloading; 133 cases of exceeding size limits; 14 cases of unauthorized vehicle modifications; and 35 cases of drug-related violations.

On waterways, 815 cases were inspected, detected, and handled. On railways, 29 violations were inspected, detected, and handled.
