With 1,700 newly installed base stations, Viettel's 5G network will cover all parade and march locations as well as events celebrating National Day, serving the communication and internet access needs of the people throughout the grand celebration.

On the morning of September 2nd, the parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam will take place at Ba Dinh Square. Behind this event is Viettel's key campaign to ensure the maintenance of the "digital lifeline".

These days, millions of Vietnamese hearts will be turned towards Hanoi, the capital city. These are historic moments that everyone wants to capture and share. Behind the sharp livestream footage, video calls with loved ones, and millions of social media posts lies a silent but equally arduous "campaign" by the telecommunications soldiers of Viettel.

The real challenge lies in a series of massive events taking place simultaneously throughout Hanoi, such as the military parade and procession on the morning of September 2nd at Ba Dinh Square and the central streets; numerous high-altitude fireworks displays; and many "huge" cultural and artistic events on weekends, such as the national concert, "Homeland in My Heart," V-Concert, etc., each attracting tens to hundreds of thousands of spectators. Viettel's task is to ensure that people can preserve these moments in the most complete way possible.

Approximately 2.9 million people are expected to flock to the parade area, including about 900,000 traveling from other provinces and cities. Compared to normal days, people's needs will not only be for browsing the web or watching movies, but also for livestreaming, video calls, and posting high-quality photos and videos. Each person, with a smartphone in hand, will become a "mobile television station," creating unprecedented pressure on the network.

To accomplish this mission, Viettel has outlined a comprehensive operational plan with more than 2,400 technical solutions, 12 times more than the same period for the September 2nd, 2024 event, and 7 times the workload required for the A50 event held in Ho Chi Minh City.

Among these, Viettel launched 500 new 5G BTS stations, and for the first time in Vietnam, 1,200 5G smallcell stations were deployed in crowded areas. In addition, 700 temporary 4G stations and 25 mobile broadcasting vehicles were also mobilized to serve the public during the Grand Celebration.

Viettel's 5G signal floods the "national celebration"

Thus, with 1,700 new 5G base stations, both large and small, installed to serve the Grand Celebration, Viettel's 5G will cover all parade and march locations, as well as celebratory events leading up to National Day. Smaller 5G base stations deployed along routes will help increase internet capacity and speed at crowded areas, sharing the load with the 4G network.

Imagine 4G as a national highway and 5G as an expressway. When there are too many vehicles (users) on the road, the national highway becomes congested. The system is designed to automatically prioritize connections to the 5G "expressway" when available. By proactively "attracting" users with the highest data needs to the 5G lane, Viettel has helped to significantly improve the flow of data on the 4G "national highway". As a result, everyone, whether using 4G or 5G devices, has a better experience. These devices are not only powerful but also aesthetically pleasing, easily installed without affecting the urban landscape.

Viettel is the only network operator simultaneously broadcasting both 5G SA and 5G NSA technologies. 5G SA is a completely independent network, offering ultra-low latency of approximately 1ms and superior performance compared to 5G NSA, with speeds up to 10 times faster than 4G.

Using AI to share load and optimize coverage.

For the first time, Viettel engineers are using AI to predict the future. Based on data from event schedules, flight ticket sales, hotel room bookings, social media posts, and likes, Viettel engineers have used AI models to predict the most crowded locations, peak times, and travel behavior. This ensures that network resources are allocated efficiently.

The X-Optimization (XO) system, combined with AI, optimizes network quality based on customer behavior. The system continuously monitors the network and automatically makes adjustments in near real-time. Every 5 minutes, the AI automatically adjusts coverage, directing signals to areas with users and reducing interference in neighboring areas. Furthermore, when base stations show signs of overload, the system immediately redirects users to nearby stations that are still available.

With a complex system comprising thousands of broadcasting points, manual adjustment by human effort is impossible. AI, through the XO platform, is an intelligent resource that ensures the infrastructure operates harmoniously, providing the best service quality and a smooth experience for people participating in the A80 series of events.

With that capability, Viettel is ready to help people share historical moments as the marching troops pass the reviewing stand, and as brilliant fireworks light up the Hanoi sky.
