65 people died and 40 are missing due to Typhoon Yagi.
The remnants of Typhoon Yagi caused heavy rain and flooding in numerous northern provinces and cities, including Hanoi and Thai Nguyen, resulting in 65 deaths and 40 missing people.
On the morning of June 10th, the Department of Dike Management and Disaster Prevention (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) announced that, as of 6 AM this morning, the number of casualties before and during the storm was less than 10. However, the post-storm circulation caused heavy rain, triggering landslides and rapidly increasing the number of casualties.
The worst damage occurred in Cao Bang province. Yesterday, a series of landslides in Nguyen Binh district resulted in 17 deaths, 38 missing persons, and 12 injuries. The first incident occurred at 1:30 AM in Lung Sung hamlet, where earth and rocks slid down from the hill, burying six households with 34 people. After more than half a day of searching, seven bodies, aged between 4 and 46, were found, seven others were seriously injured, and four are still missing.

In Ca Thanh commune, Nguyen Binh district, at 5:45 AM, soil and rocks from the embankment slid down onto National Highway 34, causing a 29-seat passenger bus to be swept 800 meters into a ravine, a 5-seat car to be swept nearly 3 kilometers into a stream, and several motorbikes to be buried.
On the passenger bus, local forces found two dead bodies, rescued one person, and 15 people are still missing. In the five-seater car, one person was found dead, one person was rescued, and three people are still missing. Additionally, the body of a motorcyclist was found, and eight people remain missing.
Additionally, another landslide occurred in Ca Thanh commune, affecting 6 households with 38 people, resulting in 2 deaths, 7 missing persons, and 3 injuries.

The second worst affected area was Lao Cai, with 20 deaths, 11 missing persons, and 14 injured. In Sa Pa town, the first landslide on the afternoon of September 8th in Muong Hoa commune damaged four houses with 26 inhabitants. After more than a day, seven bodies were found.
In Ban Pho commune, Bac Ha district, yesterday morning, landslides buried a household, killing 5 people. In San Chai commune, Si Ma Cai district, landslides also killed 4 people, while one child miraculously escaped.
The storm and floods have caused 9 deaths in Quang Ninh, 7 in Yen Bai; 4 each in Hanoi and Hoa Binh; 2 each in Hai Phong, Lang Son, and Tuyen Quang; and 1 each in Hai Duong, Bac Giang, Ha Giang, and Lai Chau. In addition, more than 750 people were injured in most provinces and cities in the North.

Flooding on the Red River in Phu Tho province caused the collapse of two spans of the Phong Chau bridge, leaving 13 people missing. By 1 PM, 33 people had been rescued. Tens of thousands of houses in Yen Bai, Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Cao Bang, and Bac Giang provinces were flooded to a depth of 0.5-1.5 meters. More than 48,000 houses were damaged.
In agriculture, nearly 150,000 hectares of rice paddies, mainly in Hai Duong, Bac Giang, and Hai Phong, were flooded. 27,000 hectares of crops and 11,000 hectares of fruit trees were damaged. Nearly 1,600 aquaculture cages were swept away, mainly in Quang Ninh.
