7 signs to identify successful people
If you’re an entrepreneur and you compare yourself to Richard Branson, you’re a loser. Likewise, if you’re a singer and you compare yourself to Taylor Swift (especially if you compare earnings), you’re a loser. And if your goal is to change the world, you better not compare yourself to Steve Jobs.

Comparison is the problem. No matter how successful you feel, there is always someone else who is more successful than you. They are smarter, better, richer, or seem happier. So stop comparing yourself and focus on yourself. Here are some unexpected signs of success:
Have enough money to make positive decisions for yourself
Some people have just enough income to cover their living expenses. Worse, many people are forced to make decisions based on comparing needs.
If you earn enough money and don’t spend too much, and you have the freedom to decide what to do with the extra money – whether it’s investing, taking a vacation, taking a class… anything you enjoy instead of having to – then you’re successful. That’s because you’re not only able to avoid having a dime to save, but you’re also able to use the extra money to make yourself more successful.
Have a best friend
Close friendships are becoming increasingly rare. One study found that the number of friends with whom one feels one can discuss important matters has dropped from an average of 2.94 to 2.08 over the past 20 years (a lot, considering the power of social media).
If you have more than two or three close friends, feel happy, not only because of the social relationships but also because its positive effect on longevity is twice as much as if you exercise or quit smoking.
Have the right to choose the people around you

Some people have employees who drive them crazy. Others have clients who are downright hateful. Others have to deal with selfish, cranky, self-absorbed people. The important thing is: they decide who they will work with, whether it’s on a business or personal basis.
Successful people attract other successful people. Hard workers attract hard workers. Good people tend to hang out with good people. Good employees want to work for good bosses.
If the people around you want to stick around you longer, it means you are successful. If not, it's time to start making changes.
Realize failure is an opportunity to practice
Failure sucks, but it’s also the best way to learn and grow. There will always be trials, challenges, and hardships – but in the end, perseverance will win.
Every successful person has failed, more than once. So, when you see failure as an opportunity – when you own it, learn from it, and take responsibility for making sure the next time it happens differently – that’s when you succeed. And you’ll become even more successful because you never stop trying to improve yourself.
Don't ask for anything
People who feel successful are not needy. They accept help if offered, but they don't feel the need to ask for help. In fact, they focus on what they can do for others.
Let others take all the attention
You can do everything yourself, do great things and enjoy the fruits of your labor. However, if you do not seek praise or awards, this means you are successful. You feel proud of yourself. You do not need glory or awards, it is important to know what you have achieved. You receive recognition from others but do not necessarily need it.
Live with purpose
Successful people are purposeful. This is expressed in excitement, enthusiasm, passion, and fearlessness. Successful people share their passion with others.
Finding your purpose means you’ve found something that drives you, that inspires you, that makes you excited to explore and achieve. That means you’re successful, regardless of how much money you make or what other people think. Why? Because you’re living life on your terms – and that’s the surest sign of success.
