Vietnam's 7 priorities on human rights
The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has just released a white paper on human rights with the theme “Protecting and promoting human rights in Vietnam”, in Vietnamese, English and French. The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that in the coming time, Vietnam will prioritize 7 human rights.
White Paper on Human Rights
At the regular press conference of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on January 18, spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang informed about the white book "Protecting and promoting human rights in Vietnam".
Ms. Hang affirmed that throughout history, Vietnam has continuously fought for basic human freedoms, especially the right to national independence and self-determination, the right to live in peace, freedom, prosperity and happiness for every citizen.
Vietnam seriously implements international commitments on promoting human rights and proactively contributes to human rights forums within the framework of the United Nations, ASEAN and many other mechanisms.

The White Book on Human Rights will provide updated information on the laws, policies, efforts and achievements of the Vietnamese State in the field of human rights as well as challenges to overcome and priorities to promote increasingly better implementation of human rights in Vietnam.
The book consists of 4 chapters, clearly stating Vietnam's viewpoints, policies and laws on human rights, Vietnam's achievements in implementing civil, political, social, cultural rights, rights of vulnerable groups, etc.
In 2005, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs published the book “Achievements in the Protection and Development of Human Rights in Vietnam”. Since then, Vietnam has witnessed important achievements in the protection and development of human rights, especially the adoption of the 2013 Constitution and the completion of the legal system on human rights.
7 priorities of Vietnam
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said that in recent years, Vietnam has made very important progress in the field of promoting human rights. In the coming time, Vietnam will implement a number of priorities to ensure better implementation of human rights. Specifically:
The first,Continue to improve the legal system to ensure better implementation of people's fundamental rights and freedoms in accordance with the 2013 Constitution and Vietnam's international commitments.
Monday,Promote socio-economic development to improve conditions and resources for poverty reduction, improve the material and spiritual quality of life for people.
Tuesday,improve access to social security.
Wednesday,Improve the quality of education to develop human resources, including human rights education to raise public awareness and the capacity of law enforcement agencies in this matter.
Thursday,continue to promote gender equality as this is an important factor in building a strong human resource, as well as improving the quality of life for each individual, each family and the whole society.
Friday,community health care, towards a healthy society with access to full health care services both physically and mentally.
Saturday,continue to strengthen cooperation with all countries, regional and global specialized mechanisms and organizations relevant to human rights”.
Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said that human rights are common values of humanity, but there are still differences in approaches and priorities regarding human rights, stemming from differences in history, culture, political institutions, and development levels. This is a normal practice in international relations. The important thing is that we need to be ready to cooperate and dialogue in the spirit of cooperation, constructiveness, and mutual respect.
“Vietnam continues to maintain human rights dialogue mechanisms with a number of countries/partners to enhance mutual understanding, share experiences and open up opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the field of human rights. We also hope that the international community will have an objective, comprehensive and balanced view of Vietnam's efforts and achievements in ensuring human rights,” Ms. Hang emphasized.
