He stayed there for five days until the early morning of September 17, when Choi applied ointment to his upper body, curled up, and squeezed through a food slot in the prison bars. The entire escape took only 34 seconds. According to the Korea Times, Choi was approximately 1.65 meters tall. The hole he squeezed through was about 15 cm high and 45 cm wide. He escaped while the three guards were asleep. However, six days later, Choi was recaptured and held in a cell with a much smaller food slot. |

As the prisoners were entering the building, Chautard managed to cling to the underside of the truck that had just transported them from Snaresbrook High Court to Pentonville. Chautard then successfully escaped from the prison under the truck within minutes. However, Chautard later turned himself in to the police. |
