73 works by 59 domestic authors participated in composing songs about Truong Bon
(Baonghean.vn) - After nearly 1 year of launching, the Campaign to compose songs about Truong Bon has attracted 73 works from 59 authors across the country.
On the afternoon of September 9, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to give and listen to opinions on the results of the campaign to compose songs about Truong Bon.

The campaign to compose songs about Truong Bon was launched in October 2018. Right after the launching ceremony, the Department of Culture and Sports - the standing agency of the Organizing Committee sent invitations to the Literature and Arts Associations of provinces and cities, cultural units and the Vietnam Musicians Association. At the same time, the campaign's plan and rules were posted on the information portal and press publications.

By July 30, 2019 - the deadline for receiving entries, the Organizing Committee had received 73 entries from 59 authors nationwide. Of which, Nghe An had the largest number of entries (21), followed by Hanoi (7), Ho Chi Minh City (6); some provinces and cities had 1-2 authors submitting songs for the contest.

The Vietnam Musicians Association has sent 4 musicians to the Evaluation Council. The preliminary evaluation will be held in Hanoi, the Council will evaluate through 3 rounds. Round 1 selects 30 works; round 2 selects 16 works; round 3 selects 11 works to be considered for awards, including: 1 First prize, 2 Second prizes, 3 Third prizes and 5 Encouragement prizes.
At the meeting, members of the Organizing Committee contributed opinions on the following issues: Establishing an Award Council; the summary and award ceremony should be held on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the Truong Bon Victory; the scale of the award ceremony should be based on the quality of the winning works;...

In his speech, Comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee noted that members should determine the scale and plan for the summary and award ceremony based on the results of the assessment and selection. Relevant departments and branches need to actively participate in implementing the plan for the Campaign to compose songs about Truong Bon to be successful.
The Songwriting Campaign about Truong Bon is expected to conclude and award prizes in October 2019.
The war has long since ended, but the Truong Bon victory remains a symbol of the bravery, indomitability, and patriotism of the people of Nghe An province in particular and the Vietnamese people in general, as well as the heroic sacrifice of 1,240 officers and soldiers who participated in protecting this Truong Bon fire route. On September 23, 2008, President Nguyen Minh Triet signed a decision to confer the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces on a group of 14 Truong Bon Youth Volunteers belonging to the legendary "Steel Squad", Company 317, Team 65, Youth Volunteers General Team against the US, saving the country, Nghe An province.
