(Baonghean.vn) - The organizing committee will transfer the entire 760 million VND from BIB registration fees and donations from benefactors to the Vietnamese Heart Foundation to support the humanitarian heart surgery program "Hearts for Children".

On October 9, 2022, the Viettel Fastest race officially kicked off for the first time in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of 2,500 athletes from many provinces and cities across the country.

Going beyond the scope of a typical sporting event, Viettel Fastest received enthusiastic support from numerous professional athletes and running enthusiasts due to the humanitarian significance of the race - all revenue from the sale of BIBs (bib numbers, printed individually for each athlete to help classify race distances and track results) is donated by the organizers to "Heart for Children" - a free humanitarian heart surgery program founded and implemented by the Viettel Military Telecommunications Industry Group and the Vietnamese Heart Foundation of Vietnam Television.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Lap, Deputy General Director of Viettel Telecom, donated 750 million VND to support the "Heart for Children" program.

In the two previous seasons held in Hanoi, the race attracted more than 3,500 participants, raising 1.1 billion VND for the "Heart for Children" program; strongly spreading the humanitarian significance and the spirit of sports training, especially running, to the community.

At the opening ceremony of the race, a benefactor donated 10 million VND to the "Heart for Children" program.

With a single 10km race, athletes challenged themselves in one of three categories: NEW PR, SEMI PRO, and PRO, with time limits of 90-100 minutes, 60-65 minutes, and 42-45 minutes respectively (men and women). The lush green route around Phu My Hung urban area, along with the cool weather, created favorable conditions for athletes to achieve their best results and set new records.

The race attracted 2,500 participants, including professional and semi-professional runners and running enthusiasts of all ages from both within and outside the country.

In the final results, athletes Nguyen Anh Tri - BIB number P-4015 (male) and Nguyen Thi Phuong Trinh - BIB number P-4034 (female) finished first in the Professional (Pro) category with times of 00:34:17.1 and 00:41:25.3 respectively; athletes Bui Tuan Lam - BIB number S-6297 (male) and Nguyen Le Tran - BIB number S-6534 (female) finished first in the Semi-Pro category (Semi Pro) (times of 00:36:38.0 and 00:45:03.2).

The winners in the New PR category were athletes Hoang Trong Dao - BIB number N-8421 (male - time 00:42:29.6) and Nguyen Thi Thuong - BIB number N-8409 (female - time 00:47:22.8). In addition to the first, second, and third place prizes for each category, the Organizing Committee also awarded prizes based on age to the athletes with the best performance. The total cash prize from Viettel Fastest amounted to 138 million VND.

The joy of reaching the finish line.

With the message "Accelerate with technology" and organized by Viettel Telecom - one of the pioneering enterprises in building a digital society in Vietnam, the Viettel Fastest race applies many new technologies in its organization and operation.

Accordingly, the online management system uses registration codes, facial recognition check-in technology, electronic waivers, and QR codes for easy Race-kit collection or authorization. In addition to these technological applications, athletes can register and transfer their race BIBs online very conveniently, without going through the organizing committee, and completely free of charge.

With the desire to spread the spirit of love for sports in general, running in particular, and the humanitarian significance of the race, Viettel Telecom announced that Viettel Fastest will become an annual event, and hopes to expand to many provinces and cities nationwide.
