Eight native tree species have been selected for investment in Nghe An province.
(Baonghean.vn) - The People's Committee of Nghe An province has recently approved a project on selecting and developing pilot production of several native crops that have been studied for their ability to adapt to climate change, aiming to improve livelihoods and reduce pressure on forest resources for people in the mountainous areas of Nghe An.

Accordingly, the selected plants (along with their locations) are: sweet eggplant (Tuong Duong, Ky Son), upland pumpkin (Tuong Duong, Con Cuong), tomato (Tuong Duong, Ky Son), taro (Ky Son, Que Phong), cucumber (Que Phong, Qui Chau), glutinous rice (Qui Hop, Que Phong), bon bo plant (Que Phong, Ky Son), and Artemisia annua (Que Phong, Qui Chau).
The budget for this project is 1,321,055,000 VND, of which direct costs are 1 billion VND, and the remainder for management costs and taxes, which are drawn from the environmental resource management budget.
The project is being implemented by Thanh Do Technology Investment and Development Joint Stock Company. Its tasks include collecting information, conducting pilot production in the aforementioned areas, providing training for local officials and farmers, and evaluating technical and economic effectiveness.
The implementation period is 24 months from the date of approval (November 11, 2015).
