87 million Facebook users had their personal information exposed.
Facebook's chief technology officer announced that the number of people whose personal information was leaked in the US is 37 million higher than previously reported.
In a blog post yesterday discussing Facebook's changes to user data protection,Facebook's Chief Technology Officer, Mike SchroepferThey admitted that the amount of personal information leaked had reached 87 million, not just 50 million.

Immediately after the article byMike SchroepferMark Zuckerberg has publicly admitted his mistake. "We weren't comprehensive enough about our responsibilities, and that was a mistake. The fault lies with me," the Facebook CEO said. "When you're building something unprecedented in the world like Facebook, you can't foresee the consequences. It's important to learn from mistakes."
Meanwhile, according toReutersCambridge Analytica stated that it only used information from no more than 30 million Facebook users.
Previously, Facebook was accused of leaking the personal information of over 50 million users. This data was collected by Aleksandr Kogan and sold to Cambridge Analytica. This data was subsequently alleged to have influenced the 2016 US presidential election. The incident led to Zuckerberg's scheduled testimony before the House Energy and Commerce Committee on April 11th.
