The 8BitDo FlipPad uses a USB-C connector, compatible with both Android phones and newer iPhone models. The device's biggest highlight is its hinge mechanism, inspired by flip phones from the 90s. According to the manufacturer, this hinge is rated for over 6,000 folds and unfolds, while the USB-C connector is rated for over 10,000 plugs and unplugs.

In terms of control, the FlipPad features a retro-styled navigation pad (D-pad) similar to the company's popular SN30 Pro model. The ABXY buttons are designed as clicky mechanical buttons, providing a light and precise tactile feel.
