(Baonghean.vn) - In order to promote the potential and advantages of local land, Mr. Ngo Tri Xuan (1983) in Hamlet 5 - Tien Thanh, Quynh Thang Commune (Quynh Luu - Nghe An) grows grass and raises dairy cows. His farm currently has 23 dairy cows, earning more than 500 million VND per year.

Mr. Xuan and his wife take care of their dairy cows every day, earning about 2 million VND/day.

Previously, Mr. Xuan and his wife grew pineapple and cassava, but their income was unstable and the price depended on the factory's purchase, so the economic efficiency was not high. To develop the potential and advantages of the large garden land, in 2012, he invested more than 150 million VND to grow grass and buy 3 dairy cows of Ba Vi breed to raise.

After the initial confusion, his family now has a total herd of 23 dairy cows, worth nearly 1 billion VND. To ensure a food source for the cows, Mr. Xuan and his wife have planted more than 1.6 hectares of VA06 grass. In addition, other foods such as rice bran and corn flour are also easy to find locally and are cheap.

From 3 dairy cows, Mr. Xuan's family has now increased the herd to 23. His family grows 1.6 hectares of grass for the cows.

Currently, with 9 cows being milked, each cow produces an average of 22 liters of milk per day at a cost of 14,000 VND/liter, giving Mr. Xuan's family an income of nearly 3 million VND. After deducting expenses, he also earns a profit of nearly 2 million VND/day. The advantage of this model is that Vinamilk has a stable contract to purchase milk.

Mr. Hoang Van Cong - Vice Chairman of Quynh Thang Commune People's Committee, said: "Mr. Xuan is a proactive person who dares to think and dares to do. In 2 years, he invested 40 - 60 million VND in each breeding cow and now has 23 cows. From bank loans and borrowing from relatives, he dared to invest and now has a stable income. The locality has also identified dairy farming as a sustainable direction. Up to now, in the commune, there are 40 households raising more than 400 dairy cows."
