(Baonghean.vn) - To maximize the potential and advantages of the local land, Mr. Ngo Tri Xuan (1983) in Hamlet 5 - Tien Thanh, Quynh Thang commune (Quynh Luu district - Nghe An province) grows grass and raises dairy cows. His farm currently has 23 dairy cows, generating an income of over 500 million VND per year.

Mr. and Mrs. Xuan usually take care of their dairy cows, earning about 2 million VND per day.

Previously, Mr. and Mrs. Xuan grew pineapples and cassava, but their income was unstable, and the price depended on the purchasing factory, resulting in low economic efficiency. To capitalize on the potential and advantages of their vast hillside land, in 2012, he invested over 150 million VND in planting grass and buying three Ba Vi breed dairy cows to raise.

After overcoming initial difficulties, his family now owns a total of 23 dairy cows, worth nearly 1 billion VND. To ensure a sufficient food supply for the cows, Mr. and Mrs. Xuan have planted over 1.6 hectares of VA06 grass. In addition, other feeds such as rice bran and cornmeal are readily available locally and are inexpensive.

Starting with just 3 dairy cows, Mr. Xuan's family has now expanded their herd to 23. They cultivate 1.6 hectares of grass for the cows.

Currently, with 9 cows producing an average of 22 liters of milk per cow per day, at a price of 14,000 VND/liter, Mr. Xuan's family earns nearly 3 million VND. After deducting expenses, he makes a profit of nearly 2 million VND per day. The advantage of this model is that Vinamilk Dairy Company has a stable milk purchase contract.

Mr. Hoang Van Cong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Thang commune, said: "Mr. Xuan is a proactive and daring individual. In the first two years, he invested 40-60 million VND per breeding cow, and now he has 23 cows. He used loans from banks and relatives to invest, and now he has a stable income. The local authorities have also identified dairy farming as a sustainable direction. To date, there are 40 households in the commune raising over 400 dairy cows."
