A person born in the 1980s earns 500 million VND per year from dairy farming.
(Baonghean.vn) - With a livestock farm raising over 100 cows, earning an annual profit of 500 million VND after deducting expenses, Cao Xuan Kien from Hamlet 8, Nghia Thuan Commune (Thai Hoa Town) is one of the three outstanding young people of Nghe An province who were honored with the Luong Dinh Cua Award by the Central Youth Union in 2017.
When asked why he chose livestock farming over other fields to develop his economy, Mr. Cao Xuan Kien shared: "During my time working abroad, I had the opportunity to learn about and plan my future business. After returning to Vietnam and securing some capital, I realized that the local area had an advantage in livestock farming, which was being prioritized for development, and my family had land to grow grass. After thinking it over, I decided to start my business in 2006 by raising dairy cows."

Learning as he went, Kien initially only raised 20 pigs. At that time, due to his limited experience, he faced many difficulties. However, through perseverance and a thirst for knowledge, he gradually mastered the new farming methods. The farm's scale and the total herd size steadily increased. Consequently, his family's income also multiplied. In 2017, Kien's farm generated over 1 billion VND in revenue, with 500 million VND coming from milk sales. On average, after deducting expenses, his annual profit reached 500 million VND.
Mr. Kien stated that, at this point, he can confidently say that his chosen path is correct. In the future, he plans to further expand his dairy farming operation by raising more cows; and at the same time, utilize organic fertilizer to grow several fruit trees such as jackfruit, durian, and apples.

At 33 years old, Cao Xuan Kien has already built a solid foundation, owning three dairy and beef cattle farms; 0.5 hectares of fruit trees; 2 hectares of pasture; and 2 hectares of corn.
According to Mr. Le Van Hoa, Deputy Secretary of the Nghia Thuan Commune Youth Union: In addition to recognizing the advantages and potential of the local land, Kien boldly and proactively created opportunities to enrich himself. At the same time, he provided regular employment for 5 members of the Youth Union branch, with a stable salary of 4 million VND per month.
