Hoarseness is the primary symptom of vocal disorders, manifesting as a raspy, unclear voice, or even complete loss of voice (inability to produce sound).

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, hoarseness is mostly caused by external pathogens, related to the lung meridian, and often occurs suddenly. This is because external pathogens invade the lungs, causing damage to the lung qi and yin, leading to illness.
