According to the Russian news agency TASS on January 10, ABC Television recently quoted a Ukrainian doctor as saying that the number of Ukrainian soldiers seriously wounded has increased by 30% in the past few weeks.
According to Dr. Sergey Ryzhenko, who works at a hospital in the city of Dnieper, approximately 40 to 100 seriously wounded soldiers are brought to the medical facility daily. In addition, the hospital performs around 50 to 100 surgeries each day. He added that the majority of these surgeries involve amputation.
The news channel quoted doctors as saying that, according to the information they have, approximately 30,000 Ukrainian servicemen are killed or seriously injured each month.
Earlier, on January 9, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu stated during an online meeting with top generals of the Russian armed forces that, "on the instructions of Western donors, the Kiev authorities continue to send their troops to massacre and explore every possibility to reinforce the Ukrainian army."
Minister Shoigu added: "Naturally, that would not change the situation at the contact line between the two sides, but would only prolong the military conflict."
