The AFF has officially canceled the 2016 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship.
According to information from the AFF, the 2016 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship has been officially canceled due to the inability to find a replacement host country for Thailand.
According to the original plan, the 2016 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship was scheduled to take place from October 31st to November 8th in Bangkok, Thailand. However, after the death of the King of Thailand on October 13th, Thailand withdrew its bid to host the event because it would not be holding any entertainment activities during the period of national mourning.

Shortly afterwards, the AFF searched for a new host country for the tournament, but the two strongest candidates, Indonesia and Singapore, both withdrew at the last minute due to a lack of sponsors. Therefore, the AFF officially announced the cancellation of the 2016 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship.
Thus, the operational plans and training strategies prepared for the tournament by the Vietnam Futsal team have been severely affected by the AFF's decision to cancel the competition.
It is known that over the past three weeks, the Vietnamese Futsal team has been actively training under the guidance of coach Nguyen Bao Quan in preparation for the 2016 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship.
This is not the first time the Southeast Asian Futsal Championship has been canceled. Previously, in 2011, the AFF also canceled the tournament scheduled to be held in Indonesia because the participating countries could not agree on a specific date for the event.
