AFF officially cancels 2016 Southeast Asian Futsal tournament
According to information from AFF, the 2016 Southeast Asian Futsal Tournament has been officially canceled due to not finding a host country to replace Thailand.
According to the original plan, the 2016 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship would take place from October 31 to November 8 in Bangkok (Thailand). However, after the King of Thailand passed away on October 13, Thailand withdrew its hosting rights because the country would not organize entertainment activities during the national mourning period.

Immediately after that, AFF searched for a new host country for the tournament but the two most promising candidates, Indonesia and Singapore, both withdrew at the last minute because they could not find sponsors. Therefore, AFF officially announced the cancellation of the 2016 Southeast Asian Futsal Tournament.
Thus, the operation plan and training plans of the Vietnam Futsal Team in preparation for the tournament have been seriously affected by the decision to cancel the tournament from AFF.
It is known that over the past 3 weeks, the Vietnam Futsal Team has been actively training under the guidance of Coach Nguyen Bao Quan to prepare for the 2016 Southeast Asian Futsal Tournament.
This is not the first time the Southeast Asian Futsal tournament has been cancelled. Previously in 2011, the AFF also cancelled the tournament scheduled to be held in Indonesia because the participating countries could not agree on a specific time for the tournament.
