Hanoi tops the list of the world's most attractive cities for food, according to the British newspaper Telegraph...

1. Hanoi, Vietnam

US President Barack Obama would likely agree with this assessment. During his recent visit to Vietnam, Obama and renowned chef Anthony Bourdain enjoyed a $6 bowl of bun cha at Huong Lien restaurant. According to the Telegraph, it's clear the White House occupant is well aware of Hanoi's culinary strengths.

The British newspaper's culinary experts also recommend that visitors to Hanoi enjoy the food like the locals, with freshly cooked street food such as noodle soup, banh mi, and broken rice... One Hanoi drink mentioned is egg coffee - a type of coffee whipped with egg whites and sugar, served hot or cold.

2. Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo has more Michelin-starred restaurants than any other city in the world. “Tokyo is more than just sushi. From tonkatsu (pork cutlet) and unagi (eel), to okonomiyaki (pancakes) and all things tofu, Tokyo has an overwhelming number of restaurants specializing in Japanese cuisine… It truly is a paradise for food lovers,” commented Telegraph food expert Danielle Demetriou.

3. London, England

From upscale restaurants catering to the elite to casual eateries in the East of the city, London boasts a rich and diverse culinary scene. “London’s culinary diversity is unparalleled. The city’s ethnic diversity means that almost any national or regional culinary icon can be found here,” says Telegraph travel editor John O’Ceellaigh.

4. Jaipur, India

Jaipur is one of the few places in India where dishes were once cooked for the Rajputs – the warrior princes who ruled much of Rajasthan until the 1960s. Besides grilled dishes, Jaipur is also famous for its goat curry. The recipe includes 45 chilies and 1 kg of goat meat, along with garlic, onions, and yogurt. Because it is very spicy, it is usually served with white rice or bread.

5. New York, USA

“New York chefs are always innovative,” observes Telegraph food expert Douglas Rogers. “With eight million people from every country in the world living in New York, the culinary experience is incredibly diverse, while food trends and fads are constantly changing. But whatever the trends, New York cuisine always has a classic feel and is unlike anywhere else.”

The famous New York dishes that Mr. Rogers mentioned were the oysters at the Grand Central Oyster Bar and the steak at Peter Luger's restaurant.

6. Mendoza, Argentina

Mendoza's steak, known as 'asados', has become legendary. In addition, the Argentinian capital boasts some of the country's finest wineries and numerous upscale restaurants.

7. Bologna, Italy

Italians consider the food in Bologna to be the best in the country. Many Italian specialties originate from this region, such as bolognese sauce, baloney sausage, Parma bacon, and Parma cheese. Food lovers can easily find numerous food shops, outdoor markets, and restaurants ranging from high-end to casual in Bologna.

8. Lyon, France

Lyon is considered the ideal place to enjoy the finest French cuisine. Visitors to Lyon often seek out small eateries and sample local specialties such as beef tripe. In addition, Lyon is also known for its many varieties of chocolate and the famous "cervelle de canut" cheese.

9. New Orleans, USA

Seafood holds a special place in New Orleans' culinary scene. Adam Karlin, a local, recommends that visitors head to Dauphine Street for street food and Freret Street for lobster, fried oysters, and roast beef.

10. Bangkok, Thailand

The sounds of cooking emanating from Bangkok kitchens are like a characteristic symphony of the city. Then, the intoxicating aroma of spices like chili, lemongrass, and galangal stimulates the senses of diners.
