| Thang claimed that he killed his wife with a knife because she had changed and didn't want to reconcile. |
One afternoon at the end of August 2016, Thang went to pick up his child to take him home to play, and while he was there, he also met his ex-wife to talk about reconciling their relationship, but she rejected him.
In the early afternoon of the same day, he went to the market to buy a knife and returned to his ex-wife's house to try to reconcile, but failed. Therefore, Thang took the knife and attacked his ex-wife, stabbing her three times, causing her death from stab wounds to the chest.
Afterward, Thang attempted suicide with a knife but failed. Immediately after the incident, Thang was taken by his family to the police station to surrender.
In court, Thang testified that the marital conflict stemmed from when his wife, Dau, started working as a factory worker, and a disagreement arose between them. Thang also expressed jealousy, claiming he discovered his wife texting a stranger.
Considering the circumstances of the case, the panel of judges of the Hanoi Court sentenced the defendant Ha Quang Thang to life imprisonment.
