Of the six cases of food poisoning mentioned above, five are members of Mr. Lo Van Chuong's family, and the remaining case is Mr. Vi Van Cuong. All reside in Ta Soi village, Chau Hanh commune, Quy Chau district.

Mrs. Lo Thi Thom, wife of Mr. Lo Van Chuong, said that after harvesting rice in the fields, the family went into the forest to pick mushrooms for lunch. At that time, Mrs. Thom and one of her grandchildren did not eat any mushrooms, so they were unharmed.

"Just 30 minutes after the family finished eating the mushroom soup cooked with wild bitter gourd leaves from the forest, six people showed symptoms of fatigue, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, and convulsions," Mrs. Thom recounted.

According to Mr. Lo Van Mao, a resident of Ta Soi village, the type of mushroom that Mr. Lo Van Chuong's family ate was a highly poisonous "fire mushroom."

All six people were subsequently transferred to Northwest General Hospital (Nghia Dan). According to initial information, the patients are out of critical condition and are currently recovering well, but require continued monitoring.

Fire mushrooms, known as "het ta phi" in Thai, mainly grow naturally after people burn firewood in March and April (lunar calendar). According to experience, people usually identify inedible mushrooms based on their color. Mushrooms with many colors or bright colors are poisonous, as are mushrooms with smooth, shiny caps.
