On January 16, British ministers announced a landmark strategic agreement on a “100-year partnership” with Ukraine.
“The parties to the agreement will explore options for deploying and maintaining defense infrastructure in Ukraine, including military bases, logistics warehouses and military equipment storage facilities,” a statement from the agreement said.
London and Kiev also agreed to step up cooperation on long-range strike weapons, integrated air and missile defense, and “build up arsenals to support deterrence.”
During the British leader’s visit to Kiev, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer signed an agreement on a “100-year” partnership between Ukraine and the UK on January 16. According to the Ukrainian leader, there is a secret part of that agreement.
The “centennial agreement” is expected to strengthen military cooperation on maritime security and strengthen Britain’s position as a leading partner in Ukraine’s energy, key minerals and steel production, among other areas.
Also during this meeting, according to some media, a UAV believed to be Russian was intercepted at a location in central Kiev. Immediately after, President Zelensky issued a warning, "will greet" Russia, in response to the appearance of suicide UAVs in Kiev.
